Terrible conditions especially the green, hardly any grass. Course should not be open. Another rip off to Championship players. The groups I belong to have taken it off the rotation. Hope other large groups will do the same. Pro was no help although I did not think he would be. Who wants to admit their course is in awful shape? Does anyone know what Ricky Craigs job is?

Rickie is apparently in charge.

Cane Garden is scheduled for renovation, as soon as Havana is completed, which is scheduled for November, 2025.

The maintenance team that has the contract for Cane Garden, has done a horrendous job in my opinion. There are (2) very good 9 hole routings there and maintenance has been abysmal.

The next time you play Hibiscus, notice the area to the right of the green on #4 & behind the Tee Box for #5. There's a beautiful landscaped area, that cost a lot of money to build ... it looks like the maintenance crew has never stepped foot in it. Poor management & over-sight of the maintenance crew, in my opinion.

The greens at Cane Garden are deplorable! The greens are dry and lack one vital component GRASS. The course should be shut down immediately.

Bummer. Has anyone played Evans Praire lately. Thinking of booking a time there and would appreciate a recent review before committing.

my favorite is when you go in and complain, the look on the faces. a look of "really". "i'm surprised?" "well, you are the only one to complain" "we weren't aware". a refund? haha. they really should be honest and say "we schtooked" and you will like it

I played there Sunday morning and the course was in good shape. The only problem I had was the grass was was long on the greens, fairways and tee boxes. The greens were unbelievable slow. I was told afterwards that the morning fog was screwing up their mowing schedule.

Three weeks ago..................Good shape.

And three weeks of crazy weather. Cold for a long spell(5 days straight with freezing/almost freezing nights) and now highs in the 80's.? how often the super actually goes our and looks at conditions?

Fog? How much visibility is needed to cut a green. This is not London.

I do not recommend playing CANE...take it off your rotation list. Greens are horrible...no grass, painted dirt green. We were first off the tee on Jacaranda and that nine wasn't too bad because we were first off. Made the turn to Alamanda and we followed the entire morning wave on that nine...what a difference. Because many greens are mostly painted dirt, the ground was scuffed up and putting was not anywhere close to true. Ball would it a scuffed part and deviate from it's path. I talked to the pro after the round...very nice guy...good conversation. He said head of maintenance putted greens before they opened and said it was good to go. I suggested the maintenance guy go back and putt those greens in the afternoon after traffic tore up the dirt...see if he still thought is was OK to be open. This course should be closed or they should give a discount for playing it. We should not pay premium green fees for playing on dirt. My 25 guys in my group all feel the same way. It's not the pro's fault BTW. They had disease and bad weather that wiped out the greens...but they could discount them if players wanted to play on dirt.

I totally get it: feels like a ripoff. This is something we should never experience at our neighborhood golf course :(

So now we're back to El Nino causing the lousy conditions?

As it was then, it is now ... nonsense.

Cane Garden is in lousy condition, because their maintenance crew is awful or their budget is woefully under-funded. It's been deteriorating for the last 3 years. I used to play it at least once a week (not Jacaranda) ... not anymore.

I do not recommend playing here. The worst greens i have ever played in the villages in my 20 years of coming to and living here. That includes the executive courses. Alamanda is horrid and unplayable. They keep taking our money. Should be closed. They are doing havana first. I just played havana and it was no where near the pathetic condition that cane garden is in.

Havana used overseeded Rye to cover up their diseased greens, temporary fix. I'll bet Cane Garden wished they had overseeded. Cold, wet winter conditions exposes the diseased greens, the catalyst is the weather. Better hybrid greens and fairways are on the way. Cane probably should have been first to go under the knife.

I totally agree that cane garden is probably the worst golf course to play in the villages right now. We played it late yesterday and we're the only ones playing.
But what about the restaurant? We went in after playing and were told we couldn't eat outside despite their being 50% open seats. We sat inside and after 1 and 1/2 hours didn't receive our food. We were the only people in the section. We paid for our drinks and left despite ordering two hamburgers. What's happened to this restaurant??

They had a disease that killed the grass. All of the other courses in the Villages were treated to prevent them from getting the same disease

Played Alamanda/Hibiscus this morning. I was very pleasantly surprised. Conditions were very good in my opinion and I enjoyed it a great deal. Forgot how much I like the track. Played it a couple times late last year, just after we moved down.

My group played Cane Garden this afternoon. Hibiscus to Allamanda, Jacaranda was closed. Allamanda's greens were very very good. They had aerated and verticut the greens, but the greens had healed enough for a good round of golf. Hibiscus greens had numerous plugs, but were healthy and smooth. It was nice to put Cane Garden back in the rotation for our golf group. Tees and fairways were perfect.

Played it yesterday.

Agree with Allamanda.......very nice.

Hibiscus was marginal because of the condition of a number of greens.
Too many times the plugs impacted our putting.

Probably best to spend my $50 on another course.

We had two groups play Cane Garden again today 7/19/2025. Allamanda again was in great shape. The greens on Hibiscus were very, very good. The 7th green was absolutely perfect. Perfect. I just didn't see where the plugs were a problem on the other greens. Priority fee was $36 for the afternoon. Two of us shot 36 on Hibiscus. I know the greens are diseased and need to be replaced, but they have done a magnificent job of making it playable.

I played there Thursday and the greens were horrible. Patches of missing grass and instead of standard top dressing, they put down something that resembled gravel. Small stone and very granular.

Was surprised with the other poster saying, "The greens on Hibiscus were very, very good."

Not sure what course he was playing.

Well I must admit I hit 8 out of the 9 greens on Hibiscus, all between 20 to 2 ft. I never saw a plug between my ball and the hole. I did see the old plugs taken from the back of the greens, but never played from there. I always had a nice smooth surface to putt on. I couldn't ask for better conditions. Yes, Tierra, Lopez, Glenview and Palmer are better, but they have the new greens and with more maturity. I can't wait for Cane to get the new grass because the old Bermuda is so grainy. Hibiscus is one of my favorite nine holes because it's so beautiful.
