Does anyone have a clue what the traffic study on Stillwater Rd is all about?

There are traffic counting devices across the road, a couple of hundred feet beyond the entrance to Caroline.

It’s not just on Stillwater. I ran over several of them while out and about today.

I walk down the path next to the road most every day and have witnesses many speeders.

They are traffic counters, looking for volume of traffic at specific times of the day. Kinda like standing there with a "clicker". They are way too close together to be able to determine speed.

Unless you looked closely at the equipment attached, that's likely not true.

The ones I saw on Stillwater, had two (2) "activators", which usually indicates it's measuring more than the raw numbers of vehicles.

The simpler ones, measure traffic count. More sophisticated ones measure traffic count, axles and/or weight. There is equipment that can measure all of the previous, plus "speed" (or even acceleration).

There's really no such thing these days, as "too close to measure speed". Think about it. Your Apple Watch (& others) can measure the speed of your heartbeat and a $29.95 gizmo from Amazon, can measure the speed of a baseball being thrown.

Amen!!

Couldn’t believe that Buena Vista & other roads would be resurfaced (that didn’t need it) a few years ago, but Stillwater Trail was not done.
