When you cleaned out your old house prior to moving to the Villages, did you donate your household items to Goodwill or other charity? If so, I’m interested in how you were able to claim the deduction as a non-cash charitable donation using IRS Form 8283.

I made several small donations during the year, but because they added up to over $5000 in value, I can’t use Section A (Form 8283). Nor can I use Section B (items over $5000) since I have no appraisals for the individual donations. If you had a similar scenario, how did you handle this?

If you are trying to do your taxes without tax software, you are making a big mistake. Use TurboTax and it will tell you what to do in every situation.

Look at the IRS language closely, I believe those limits apply to single donation valuation versus cumulative total. No expert here so seek competent advice:
