Super lame thread here.
My wifes birthday is 3/18. Her favorite meal in the world is Alaskan king crab legs.
There is a restaurant outside of Williamsburg VA that has a buffet with all you can eat AKC legs. Is there a place even as far away as Ocala (not going to Tampa or Orlando) that has an all you can eat buffet of these things. I feel I should say in my wifes defense that she is not 300lbs, just loves this when we can find it. Thank you, Bud

You can buy Alaskan king crab legs at Sam's Club, but the only crabs legs available in nearby restaurants are "snow" crab legs. These come in clusters and they are smaller than king crab legs. I have never seen king crab legs in a nearby restaurant.

The seafood buffets once in a great while will have King, with a limit brought to the table, and a hefty surcharge

If you were willing to to relax your constraints and go to Orlando you can definitely get Alaskan king crab legs. But expensive of course and not all you can eat. The menus I looked listing the price as “market price”.

Orlando is not that far. I drive there almost every day.

Has two nice seafood restaurants. Both are good, but not all you can eat.

Why not just buy a 2-pound bag at Sam's Club? They come cooked and frozen. You just thaw them and eat them. I think that the crab legs you get in a restaurant will be the same product imported from Alaska.

Lighthouse has all you can eat snow crab on Thursdays but haven’t seen anyone offer King Crab as all you can eat.

The best I’ve ever had was in Chicago at the Drake hotel Cape Cod room. The next place would be in Sunset Beach California. I love them too. I might just have to go to Alaska to get them.

Yes, there are restaurants in Sunset Beach, California, that serve Alaskan King Crab. One notable option is Captain Jack's Restaurant, located at 16812 Pacific Coast Hwy, Sunset Beach, CA 90742. While it’s a well-known spot in the area for seafood, it’s particularly famous for its Alaskan King Crab legs, often highlighted by diners for their size, freshness, and flavor. Reviews consistently praise the crab as a standout dish, served steamed with clarified butter, making it a popular choice for seafood lovers.

Another nearby option is J King Neptune’s, also located in Sunset Beach at 17101 Pacific Coast Hwy, CA 90742. This family-owned restaurant emphasizes fresh seafood and includes Alaskan King Crab, often served with classic American sides like soup or salad, fresh bread, and steamed vegetables. It’s been a local staple for over 50 years, and its crab is a highlight for many visitors.

Eaton’s Beach Sandbar & Grill (15790 SE 134th Ave, Weirsdale, FL 32195), about 15 miles southeast of The Villages. This waterfront spot on Lake Weir specializes in Floribbean cuisine and regularly offers Alaskan King Crab legs. (Stupid website Attention Required! | Cloudflare (https://eatonsbeach.com/menu))

The King Crab restaurant serves no King Crab. Go figure. https://kingcrab-usa.com/

Consider yourself extremely lucky to have ever found a place to offer all you can eat King crab legs but you’ll find plenty of all you can eat snow crab options. King crab legs are extremely expensive.

According to the manager at Eaton's Beach, they don't sell any crab legs, king crab or snow crab.

Ichiban Buffet on 441 near Taveres had them yesterday (Saturday) at noon. You could call and ask when they have them. There are a couple similar Asian buffets in Ocala.

Just use The Villages Gourmet Club's SEARCH ENGINE (https://thevillagesgourmetclub.com/search.html).
Enter "King Crab" in Section 4c, (you can limit the distance too in Section 3a), then hit SEARCH.
Their website has 23 restaurants that mention King Crab.
Easy peasy! Wonderful resource!

I agree that is a good source of restaurant information. However, when you search "king crab" the only restaurant within 20 miles of The Villages is the Lighthouse. But they don't sell king crab legs. They sell snow crab legs.

The Alaskan

A full size Alaskan king crab, body and legs attached, I have a picture somewhere, though as much as that is my favorite crustacean above all else, the price was in the hundreds. .

I think it’s a given that the price will be in the hundreds. The legs alone bought online are $75/lb or more. And 1lb isn’t much given the weight of the shell. Figure at least double that in a restaurant.

Much cheaper at Sam's Club, about $18 to $30 per pound. BJ's has them for $35 per pound. I think that no matter what seafood you buy from Alaska, it will be frozen, not fresh. I have had them. I used to heat them up, but I found that they taste better to just thaw them and eat them cold.

cheapest place up here in MA is $50+, excluding Sam's, BJs, etc.

Looks like we will be joining some of these big box retailers after we relocate, hopefully soon!

I thought the king crab they sold in big box stores was southern king crab (from South America). Do they sell Alaskan king crab for low prices too?

We have also found king, not snow, at Ichiban on last visit (4-5 weeks ago). They were huge king legs, had a basket with shell crackers on the buffet, but we joked they were probably not sourced in USA/Alaska waters.

Stone crab claws as a sweet alternative are fantastic when in season we go often, several great places on the Gulf without driving south, so close !

Bud, you are about as far from Alaska as you can get in these United States. Good luck.

I can't believe Ichiban's in Leesburg does King Crab Legs. My wife and I tried there once and saw nothing like that. The only seafood I remember was really, really mediocre shrimp.

I did an online search for King Crab in Orlando and found a couple. The Juicy Crab (multiple locations) does a 1-lb. cluster (2 or 3 legs) for $75. King Crab does 1-lb. cluster for unspecified "market price" or 1/2 pound each of King Crab legs, clams and sausage for $43. J Crab House does 1-lb. cluster for $60. 192 Crab and Lobster does 1-lb. cluster for unspecified "market price". AllMenus.com claims that EZ Crab Shack does 1 lb. of King Crab plus 18 jumbo shrimp for $37, but that seems kind of hard to believe (I can't find a page with a menu directly for EZ Crab Shack).
