Every winter I make it a point to play all twelve Championship courses north of 44 at least once. Played Cane a couple days ago, despite the negative reports, so it could be crossed off the list. The greens were definitely the worst of the 11 Champs I’ve played so far this year, but not nearly as bad as both Havana and Evans were last winter. The greens looked worse than they actually played and we still had a great afternoon of golf, plus the course was practically empty. I won’t be going back anytime soon as the other options are better, but I’m glad we got a round in there. The Hibiscus 9 is easily on my short list of one of the best 9 holes in the Villages.

Agreed. I really like Hibiscus a lot. Looking forward to those renovations when they occur after Havana.

A few weeks ago Hibiscus #1-6 greens were OK; greens #7-9 considerable areas of bare dirt.

My group played Hibiscus on March 6th and we found the same conditions.

Could be all the FREE golf people do the hour before dark and driving all over the course, hitting several balls off the tee.

You should probably discontinue the practice then.

I remember when Cane first opened Hibiscus, Jack O wasn’t finished yet. Cane was around the corner from our first house. Like many I play certain courses multiple times, but I took Cane out of the rotation end of last year.
Even in the early years, Cane after closing had more than a few walk from their backyard to play free golf. Maybe they couldn’t afford the fee, or maybe just felt they spent $100,000 for that view lot, and somebody owed them.

Hahaha. I wouldn't have the nerve to play with no pay.

Glad I got a chuckle; I like testing people's sense of humor.
If I read correctly, you're saying people sneak on to the course late in the day without paying? Hopefully, when/if caught, their golf privileges are revoked. Or taken into a back room somewhere.

Allamanda 6 & 7 are just off St. Charles. There is 1 guy that comes by most days in the last hour of light. Terrible golfer, hits several balls and takes his cart all over the course. Sometimes brings his dog, other times he has friends.
There are others but they seem to show respect. Still not right.

So here's the question for every golfer, because I've seen trespassers on Evans as well all the time:
It's after 6 PM, the pro shop is closed, the ambassadors are gone, and some yahoo is out on the course hitting balls. Who do you call? Community watch isn't interested if he's on golf course property; the police seem like overkill, and this is probably why they are getting away with it. And it's even worse if they are non-residents that snuck into The Villages.

I called the pro shop several weeks ago before the time change. Oh well.
