This place has good food and I recommend it. I picked up some takeout today.
This may be considered nitpicking to some, but the food was packed in foam containers and the containers had been stapled closed by the staff. Personally, I consider this a hazard if the staple gets into the food. I told the manager, but if you get takeout from Koyame, be advised that the foam container may have a metal staple on the closing tab. When you open it, the staple could easily fall into the food.

Thanks for the heads up. Or, heads down in this matter .

We have gotten takeout from there many times and never saw that. Wonder why they would staple it closed?
Bit of a hole in the wall but food has been consistently good

The manager told me that the containers were not staying closed, so they started stapling the foam tabs. Some restaurants have switched to hard plastic containers with a separate lid that fits securely. Apparently, the foam containers are very cheap, but stapling them shut is a bad policy. My opinion.

If you get more than one meal out of the container, like we do, now you have a container that does not stay closed. Suspect they bought some poorly made containers

Lawyers probably love that idea. Which is usually not good for the business nor the customer.

I agree, stapling is a bad practice. I have encountered those styrofoam boxes before too. They’re so cheap and rather worthless as I don’t microwave them. I transfer the food to a plastic container when I get home. As for the staples, just unsafe, as you mentioned and who has a stapler remover handy?

We get takeout from Koyame at least once a week. As a matter of fact, my wife got it yesterday. Maybe it depends on what you order but our food generally comes in plastic containers with plastic lids. In any event, we continue to enjoy their food as it is always fresh, prepared as expected and good quality. The previous owners now run Kung Fu Chef in Southern Trace Plaza. I believe the current owners of Koyame are related to them.

I was telling my wife a week ago that the places that closed in Spanish Springs square had crummy food and that is why they all closed (Gators/Margaritaville). When I go out to eat it is not the atmosphere that I go for but the food, yes Koyame is a bit lacking on atmosphere but the food is consistently very good. Yes it would be great if they expanded and they spiffed it up a bit but in the meantime it is the best Chinese food in the area period!

Yesterday, I picked up two lunch specials, the red curry beef with rice and the beef and broccoli with rice. Both meals came in a one piece foam box, and both boxes were stapled shut with a metal staple. I had trouble opening them until I noticed the staples and removed them. A person with poor vision may not notice the staples.
