I went back trying to find which video that was in. I couldn't find it, but I do recall it. He was flying the drone and superimposed a map and talked about how he found a large area that was Villages owned approximately 5 miles south of Eastport. Then he kinda talked about how Spanish Springs (opened 1994) is about 5 miles from LSL (opened 2004), which is about 5 miles from Brownwood Paddock Square (opened 2012), which is about 5 miles from EastPort (opening 2025), and the next location about 5 miles from Eastport was already Villages owned. I expect that so-far-unnamed town square to be opening in approximately 2035. I'm'a gonna call it the ElDiabloJoe Town Square.

We did for sure. Starting going every other evening almost, but still average about 6-8 times a month depending on weather since we only drive our golf cart to the squares since it's much easier.

We joined a number of social clubs and go for dinner. entertainment regularly and as we made friends go out to dinner regularly so less need to go to the squares.
Does appear that when females come here they sign a declaration not to invite folks over for dinner but go to restaurants instead.

I am at a loss on the whole concept of those who don’t ever cook in their kitchen. Looking at 8-10yo preowned, many original ovens still had instructions inside.
Even with our 30 day on call stretches, there was always prepared dinner in the fridge. After 40 plus years of juggling work, hockey, cheer, we finally have time to spend in the kitchen. Multiple friends wives refuse to cook now they are retired, because they already did their time. Both of our boys are excellent in the kitchen, making meals that rival any high end restaurant.
We always ask our friends, don’t they get tired of eating mediocre food everyday? Yes but doesn’t mean they will ever waste time in the kitchen. If we eat out once a week it’s rare, if we can make it at home far better, it’s worth 20 minutes out of my day.

Food in restaurants is not as good as what we have had in the past but we go out socially more than we ever have in the past.

Here's the link to video #134 where I discuss the 5th town square (jumps to the appropriate location)
https://youtu.be/CjusTtdSR68?si=ifhHjKKIo8SMgQVy&t=1548
Based on further I stand by my prediction on this even more solidly than I did over a year ago when this first aired. Look at the map more closely and you'll see more beyond the 5th square, but obviously these become a bit grayer due to the timeline. As McNeil Drive and Bexley Trail continue to march southward, they will start to converge and diverge like Buena Vista and Morse do at Lake Sumter Landing at the 5th square's location.
Again, this is likely a decade or more in the future, and yes, the developer has enough land to continue to build for the next 20-25 years and my research indicates that, even now, their land aqusitions are far from over.

In 24 years nothing here has been years away. We first were told building south of 466 was 7 years down the line. 4 months later they were building Lake Sumter area.14 months later Lake Sumter had its grand opening. It's been build out non stop since then.

The actual numbers are SS to LSL 3.3 miles, LSL to BWP 6.7 miles and BWP to EP 8.3 miles. This puts the next distance at 10 miles, not 5 miles. This matches the pattern of decreasing amenities per rooftop and lower setbacks going south.

While we go out twice a week, we do it for the friendship and not for food. We both cook and cooking together in the kitchen is something we have always done. What we cook at home is always better and healthier than what restaurants offer.
Our sons and daughter are all accomplished cooks though the younger son is the more adventurous cook. What I find interesting is how many guys assume that my wife does all the cooking.

You are correct I think it’s a certain age group that still thinks all women should or do the cooking.
Our boys both do all the cooking, youngest retired @ 40 from his practice, to open 5 high end restaurants. His food is amazing, Scotch Certified for pairing.
Daughter is still pulling 60 hour call weeks, but her boys are very adept in the kitchen, with southern Asian fusion, and have my baking skills. Granddaughter does ok with Asian food, failed at baking, kitchen is her least favorite pass time.
Boys research restaurants outside of TV when they visit for different experiences. Hoping Middleton or Eastport will have a great venue.

Since Eastport is being built about 13 years after Brownwood, I would guess there will be a new town square sometime around 2035? I am not worrying about something 10 years down the road but I'm interested in the new Eastport and Middletown areas that will be open in the 6-8 months!

I’m sure the Morse family has the next square in the works, considering the Village of Hawkins is deemed to be the center of The Villages when all said and done.

Wrong. Why would you throw out those figures? A map, or Google Earth's ruler which is accurate to 30 ft or less, shows the following:
Rounded to the nearset 1/10 mile (528 ft):
Spanish Springs square to Lake Sumter Landing, approx 2.6 miles.
Lake Sumter Landing to Brownwood, approx 5.3 miles.
Brownwood to Eastport, approx 6.3 miles.

I completely agree. We tend to only go out if we're going out with other couples.
Otherwise, we can throw together an excellent meal in about the same time it would take to get ready and drive to a local restaurant.
I'm not sure how this discussion became going to a restaurant negates being able to go to squares. We usually show up at the squares after dinner whether we dined out or not as it's usually less crowded at the squares starting around 7:30 or so.

Thank you Don, for chiming in with more detailed and likely more accurate information. I did not go far enough back for that video - I didn't think it was that terribly long ago. I was thinking it was last autumn or end of summer. Didn't realize it was over a year ago!
The distances and timelines between town squares are clearly interesting to consider. I think I got the 5 miles distance from Don's video but he was just guesstimating off the cuff as an aside commentary on the video.
The time lines and distances seem to be increasing but at wild unpredictable amounts (103% and then somewhere between 19 and 25%).
Using Aviator 1211's data points:
SS-LSL = 3.3 miles
LSL-BPS = 6.7 miles
BPS-EP = 8.3 miles.
The distance from LSL to BPS represents an increase of 103% over the distance from SS to LSL. However, the distance from BPS to EP is only a 24.8% increase over the distance from SS to LSL. That's a decrease of 76% in distances between those town squares. If we reduced the distance from EP to the future ElDiabloJoe town square another 76%, that's only 1/2 mile away from EP and doesn't make sense. If we stuck with the 24.8%, that would put the future ElDiabloJoe town square at somewhere around 10.375 miles from EastPort.
Using Danube's data points:
SS-LSL = 2.6 miles
LSL-BPS = 5.3 miles
BPS-EP = 6.3 miles.
Danube's data points would the distance between SS and LSL a similar 103.8%, however the distance increase between LSL and BPS is 18.8% instead of Aviator1211's 24.8%. Using the 18.8% from Danube's data instead of the 24.8 from Aviator1211, this would indicate the future ElDiabloJoe town square would be approimately 7.5 miles from EastPort.
I was no math major, nor in any STEM industry, so my conclusions should be reviewed for accuracy. Some rounding was involved, of course. Sure wish we could bifurcate this thread (that essentially means "split" for you former fire fighters) from the food and dining discussion that has segued off.

Just curious if there's been any mention of this.
Personally, I could care less. Live near SS and going anywhere south of Brownwood is like going to a different city. TV now is close to 20 miles long, in other words. 1/2 of the north/south size of Palm Beach County, which is one of the largest, if not the largest, counties in Florida.

To be fair, the demographic around SS is quite different for age and income than the demographic that are buying in the Eastport area. It is a different area that will cater to a different demographic so I don't think they're worried about catering to the SS crowd.

I wouldn't put too much stock into the distances of those. LSL was selected based on the location that they created Lake Sumter out of, Brownwood seemed to be selected to be on the edge of SR 44 to provide convenient access and room for future retail development. CR 470 was the next logical road to put Eastport close to when building south and was likely why Middleton was chosen to be in that area as well. It seems likes like the north side of SR 48 is the most logical location for the next square.
I think the distances looking like a Fibonacci sequence is mostly a coincidence.

You would be in the 10% in SS area that actually knows where LSL or Brownwood are located. I play golf once a week in the north, the usual conversations, where are you from, what village do you live in?
Most have no idea what is between the 6s, some have never been to LSL, but have heard of it, no idea what Brownwood is, much less Middleton and Eastport
After 15 years one thing is pretty common many older residents age in place, rarely venture far from their home. Really confused why I would drive 50 minutes to play golf. Will you make it home before dark.

Nothing worse than spending 3 to 4 times more for a meal when dining out, and it is mediocre at best. However, complaining about it with your dinner friends is quite enjoyable. Plenty of bad food has been served to us, but the jokes around the table always made it easy to swallow. We all leave happy! Nothing better than time spent with good friends.
Many Villagers will tell you they do not cook. However!!!!! Go to their home and they will serve you a delicious gourmet meal in no time. Saying you do not partake in something does not mean you lack the skills to do it.

Wrong. Google maps --using the roads that people use. Not the airspace that crows fly.
The point being that the roughly equal spacing between town squares is highly inaccurate. The spacing is increasing (just like the spacing between amenities -- the only thing going the opposite way is the spacing between homes). Plus the Villages is growing wider, so the homes per town square is dramatically rising. It's a 2D issue that isn't addressed by simple 1D distances.

Some interesting conjecture on the distance between the next square and Eastport. My number is based on comparison of the map image location with google maps and using their measurement tool. As I was able at one point since that video was released to see the actual map up close, personally, and a more updated version, I will stand by my previous statements. (I had my cell phone in my pocket and was so wanting to take a picture but resisted out of respect for the people involved). My numbers also consider business factors as well as geographic considerations.
Some of the speculation on the distance between town squares leaves out many of the influencing factors. One apparently used driving distance (in a golf cart instead of with a golf club?), which is grossly flawed. My and most other’s measurements discussed here are based on straight line, or “as the drone flys” distance (sorry, the crow is dead). My research indicates that the distances vary in large part by 2 primary factors: 1) home density, and 2) additional supporting retail locations.
Between SS and LSL there is basically no additional retail/commercial supporting areas except west of BV on 466 - I only include Villages owned properties in this assumption for many reasons but mainly because that is the variable that the developer can control and plan for. This area also has a relatively higher home density compared to areas as you move south. The higher density was driven in no small part by business decisions, the need to maintain profitability of the business (a vital business necessity). Early on times were a lot leaner and they needed to build as many homes as possible in the land available to sustain profitability.
Between LSL and BW the distance increased some due to multiple factors, including:
1) more green space exists - roads are wider, wetland areas, golf courses, and other geographical considerations. This leads to a lower home density compared the SS-LSL gap.
2) additional commercial locations - Pinellas and Colony shopping areas bring significant midpoint relief.
3) accessibility - as some have mentioned, SR44 provides significantly greater accessibility. CR466a suffers from bottlenecks at both ends. The Wildwood end west of 462/Powell Rd has improved and is about to be improved again to give better accessibility at that end. The east end has been hampered for may years now with limited accessibility due to the 2 lane configuration in Lake County (the reasons are many here again, but I care not to burn too many political bridges by voicing my opinions at this point).
Between BW and EP the distance increases due again to home density and geography. This is not an attempt to reduce the availability of services as some have foolishly suggested. When you look at a map there are large areas of open and non-villages areas involved - Lake Okahumpka, the turnpike, hogeye preserve, wetlands in DeLuna, Hawkins wetlands areas, and the Chitty Chatty preserve. These all drive the density of homes down, plus there are a lot more open areas that were not developed into homes on Marsh Bend Tail, Meggison, and Corbin Trail. Lot sizes have not changed significantly, but homes are moved closer to the street to accommodate larger lanais wanted and separate the kissing lanais that exist north of 44. The shape of the available/developable property causes thing to be stretched out more N-S as well which increases the distance. To ease some of the distance we have things like Magnolia plaza, Edna’s, and Sawgrass Grove.
This brings us to EP to TS5, again the map I show in video 134 support the location and makes the distance determination a lot easier. An examination of the geography and owned lands shows a much more hospitable area to develop, it’s flat open pasture lands with few significant wetlands areas (e.g. Hogeye Preserve, Evan’s Prairie, etc), and a much wider area (Middleton to the turnpike) all necessitating a closer location to EP for TS5. Yes, Middleton exists between the squares, but it serves more as a commercial/retail supplemental area and less an entertainment venue like the squares. Also there is the planned convergence of McNeil and Bexley in the proximity of the area identified for TS5, much like Morse and Buena Vista at LSL.
Is the location of TS5 finalized, doubtful, it is still years out, but the pointers are converging and once EP and Middleton are fully established and open, it won’t be long after that rough work will start on TS5.
I freely admit that I have misread the signals on a few items over the years, but overall my studies and research have proven pretty accurate and I don’t quickly jump on something just for click bait (e.g. a golf cart tunnel under the turnpike ).
I’ve only scratched the surface of what is to come, much still needs independent and public records verification before I’m willing to discuss. If only half of my research bears fruit and comes out to be accurate, I can say with confidence that we as residents, are in for a lot of really great things to come in the next 20+ years.

Yes, same here. I don’t enjoy cooking, never have, so I don’t cook for anyone but me and hubby now. We will eat out occasionally, but I’m on a very low carb diet due to being prediabetic, so it’s safer for me to eat at home. I keep it very simple though, and if hubby wants a higher carb meal he’s on his own. He’s good with that. 🙂
