Middleton... what to expect

We'll be in TV in another week or so... looking forward to it !! Anyway, been reading/ watching videos on Middleton and it seems it's being touted as an area for those who work in and around TV. With the addition of Middleton how is it expected to effect the many facets of village life ?
One thing in particular I would like to see is another hospital built considering the population growth. I understand from watching 'Wingnut' there is one being considered (?) but nothing in stone. Perhaps a community such a Middleton would attract medical professionals, techs, staff ect to facilitate a new facility. Other than that how do you see Middleton adding to/changing TV ?

Exactly - a brilliant move for the developers!

With the Charter Schools, over 8,000 family homes and Downtown Middletown, the impact is significant in many ways for that area, as well as the long term viabiliy for the Villages.

In our opinion, Middleton will have no effect on the rest of TV.

Middleton looks wonderful to us, with the beautiful new schools and the great new shopping area which we think will be much nicer than Eastport. I doubt they will build a new hospital because it is not a long drive to the Leesburg hospital, which has a higher rating than the hospital in TV.

The other family neighborhoods that have been around years haven't had any effect on the many facets of villages life.

You can expect to see an increase- perhaps a dramatic increase in younger people/teens in the squares for music. Unless Middleton will have a music venue with nightly bands these residents will have only the existing 3 (soon to be 4) squares and Sawgrass. To assume this new influx of people will not attend the squares en-masse is a bit naive since the majority of the bands are highly talented and already draw huge crowds. In our opinion, Middleton will have no effect on the rest of TV.

A higher rating maybe but still not an acceptable one.

The new hospital is supposed to be a research and teaching medical complex that will help bring in top of the line medical personnel. Sorely needed in the area.

Waterman hospital on 441 in Tavares is actually one of the best hospitals in this area and not far from the southern areas.

We like West Marion Community hospital in Ocala. Two surgeries there to date.

Attracting experienced medical staff is always a problem. As a country there is a shortage. Then add that, not everyone wants to live in Florida for many reasons. Add to THAT, staff having to play by The Villages rules… several good doctors we have had here have moved on.

The villages was very smart to incorporate a younger community nearly within the confines of The Villages. Looking ahead, how will they persuade the future generations to live here? They aren't wired the same and their wants will be very different than older generations'. Middleton will bridge that gap, as I'm sure some of the residents will transition into The Villages and then their friends and so on and so forth. Middleton is a win for everyone. Several of my neighbors have their children and grandchildren living in Middleton. We live in the closest village to Middleton and we love it. We have had no issues with problematic behavior and I personally enjoy seeing the young adults and kids from time to time. I also love seeing younger people enjoying the squares.

When we first were looking I had concerns about the stadium noise, the kids being kids, but we've experienced nothing negative.

The Leesburg and Villages Hospital are both run by the same company now. The last rating I saw they both had the same low rating. I was recently in the Leesburg Hospital and it was very nice! I had great care!

20 miles is not that far. Many of us grew up in the country, a literal hour drive away from the closest hospital.

The fact that most of the patients' insurance would be medicare, which doesn't pay much these days, perhaps this has put off new hospital plans. Maybe if more younger people keep moving to Middleton and surrounding areas, this would change minds.

Middleton is not technically part of The Villages. The families in Middleton have their own amenities and ID's. Their ID's will not work in The Villages. The Villages ID's will not work in Middleton. (They have a very nice dog park but Villagers cannot use it). That being said, "downtown" Middleton, stores, restaurants, nightly entertainment, is open to anyone. Just as Villages entertainment, etc. is open to all. The story I have consistently heard regarding the hospital being built in Eastport is that Gary Search and Oren Miller were pushing for exorbitant impact fees and the hospital said no. No idea if that will change as they are both now out of the picture. The new proposed hospitals are being built just outside The Villages with the micro hospital going in a 301. However 301 is going to be widened from 44a south to Coleman. Plus wastewater service is not available, although the city plans an extension in the future. City water is available from a line that runs along U.S. 301. Wastewater capacity and development agreements are required. When will that all happen? Who knows. There is a new inpatient rehab facility nearing completion on corner of Warm Springs and Meggison Rd. Should open 2nd or 3rd quarter 2025. For the time being, all the folks in Middleton and new Villages in that area have to go up Marsh Bend to Magnolia Plaza to shop. That parking lot has now become a "troll and wait for a spot or follow someone when they come out of a store". At some point a Publix will go in near Middleton but who knows when? There is a Provisions slated for Middleton. This is a small "mini-mart". Villages Grown vacated Sawgrass Marketplace and a Provisions in now in that spot.

Maybe but FL pay for medical professionals is insulting and working for medical facilities currently is bottom of the barrel (Lowest ranking status) as far as getting your kids into the school system. You're better off working for their banks (highest ranking status) or as a realtor (highest ranking status) to get your kids in the schools.

Maybe but FL pay for medical professionals is insulting and working for medical facilities currently is bottom of the barrel as far as getting your kids into the school system. Your better off working for their banks or as a realtor to get your kids in the schools.

I know a number of medical folks whose kids go to the charter schools.

Well, I got my info from my pay check, $10/hr less for me here (and cost of living here is MORE) and $25 less for my friend coming from the NE (not sure on her cost of living comparison). And you cannot dispute a realtor who works for The Villages is Tier 1 as far as getting kids into the school and UF Health or HCA are Tier 4. So............

Yes, absolutely would attract young professionals that could benefit TV.

I can see my kids moving there as they appreciate Florida and love this area.

So, what's the point??

Well. My point is you can’t say The Developer is putting in medical facilities to attract young people to care for villagers when they pay poorly and don’t give perks (as in being Tier 4 status). And then charge a butt load to live in Middleton. Least they could do is give preference to Middleton residents who work for qualified businesses for kids eligibility to get into the school.

As I've explained in other threads, those ratings are deeply flawed by their methodology and limited metrics. In addition, they tend to lag years behind the current situation.
