Not sure about your ? about incurring wrath of your neighbors. Almost all complaints are for not cutting the grass.

In winter months most yards do not need cutting. Running commercial mowers can cause damage to the grass. 1-2X a month. In growing season 3-4X a month

In the growing season, 1x/week. Non-growing season, 1x every 2-3 weeks.

I keep a log on when I cut the lawn for the last twelve years I average 25 cuts a year. The summer once a week. End of summer till early spring once a month

I wonder why you ask. Your grass grows all year long but far slower in the "winter,"
Winter the hired people come once every two weeks to justify being paid. Once a month or two is enough. In the warm weather, we have warm weather grass, zoyzia or st augustine. Most people mow every week. It is best not to remove more than one third of the grass blade. That can require twice a week but no one does it.

The neighborhood watch is not out to get you. A neighbor who has nothing better to do then mind other people's business needs to be told off-politely IF POSSIBLE

Be cautious of Deans, we used then for years, then they moved the grass cutting to another division (?), in any case they only mow every 2 weeks including over the summer, my lawn looked really bad for several months, changed to Chads lawn Care service, and very happy, every week over the summer growing period, and every 2 weeks over the winter period.

I cut every week between April and October, I cut once or twice for all the remaining time or October on. Lawn services can charge you for all that time when your grass just doesn’t need cut.

Thank you for this info - I have Dean’s and did not know about the summer change to bi-monthly - I will probably be looking for new lawn care

Read the deed restrictions for your Unit and rules for your District. Mine say, Grass is overgrown when it is allowed to grow to 8". That seems pretty tall and noticeable.

Grass will grow quicker the shorter and more frequently it is cut.

Letting it grow longer than "normal" has two benefits:

1) you need cut it only once every two weeks in the summer; once a month (or less) in the winter; and
2) it will better survive periods of drought and frosts, staying green throughout.

Unless you particularly want your lawn to look like a putting green, don't be in too much of a rush to cut it, and keep the blades high.

When did they supposedly start this "bi-weekly summer mowing"?

I have Deans and they still come weekly in the Spring/Summer/Fall. My SimpliSafe alerts me when they show up and it's every Monday...

I dumped Dean's 7 years ago, first crew was terrible, so they changed to another crew and they were even worse.

My grass grows so slow I only had to mow it 10 times last year. I have ProVista St. Augustine and the company who treats my lawn hates it. If there is a bare spot it takes forever to fill in
