But I rarely go much over the speed limit. So, why do these people that have their golf cars tuned up to go 30, feel they have to do it all the time? I have been passed doing 20-22 so many times that I can’t count. Sometimes in inappropriate places. Are you late for a tee time, or you don’t want to miss happy hour? I don’t get it.

I'm honestly equally annoyed by people that have a golf cart that goes 22 MPH but they drive 15 or less for a long stretch where passing is not safe to do so. At least pull over if you're going to do sightseeing while holding up 10 carts behind you.

True especially when they do this on a village street.

I get what you both are saying, but which is the most dangerous? I’m sure someone will find a way to say 15mph guy is as dangerous, but I won’t agree.

OP is correct there are many golf carts passing me doing at least 30mph. However, that is not near as dangerous as being passed on interstate 75 by cars traveling at least 85 miles mph while weaving in and out of all the traffic.

Just 30? 35 plus more like it. :undecided:

I don’t think anyone would disagree with that. I recently drove to Naples and back. I saw some really stupid s***.

Then you won’t agree, but it is the case.
The single cart that goes 30 (I hear 30 and I’ll raise to 35. 35, 35, do I hear 40? I think we’ve seen 40 claimed on hear at least once). Anyway…. The single cart that goes 30 passes the legal carts and the possibly drives into a tree on the next corner.
The cart that drives 15 backs up several carts behind or. Each of these carts eventually loses patience and attempts to pass the slowpoke. Maybe the pass is safe but maybe impatience takes over and the pass is not so safe.
Yes, the faster carts can just be patient and let the slower cart dictate everyone’s speed…and we could also all agree that Miller Lite is less filling but we know that ain’t gonna happen.

I guess there’s a no win to this discussion. Oh, I’m a Miller Lite drinker, when I drink beer.

When we did our lifestyle visit a hundred years ago, the cart we rented (or was it supplied with the CYV? I can't remember) would not go over 15, according to the device we had that told us our speed. I wonder how many of these slowpokes are in rental carts.

Another cart going to fast thread? People take pride in this, LOL. As I have said before it’s funny to watch them passing each other in the rain, it’s dark and no one has their cart lights on in the middle of the road passing another cart. Three more weekends and it will be over?

People are funny. Whatever speed they choose to be safe is the maximum safe speed and beyond that is too much. 22 is fine, but 30 is dangerous. 75 is fine, but 85 is crazy.
The key to safety is to minimize interaction numbers and length with each other vehicle which is generally why it's safer to travel at the speed of traffic. If you are slower than traffic, everyone encounters and must bypass you, if you are faster than traffic, you encounter more vehicles to pass.
When it comes to minimizing the length of the interaction, here the move is to allow faster traffic through at the earliest and safest place possible. The longer the time of the conflicting speed choices, the higher the possibility of an accident.
Everyone, drive the speed you like, but be mindful that your choice, if outside of the current speed of traffic, impacts your safety whether that choice is faster or slower.

Where are the mathematicians?????
I've seen it................."Cart able to go 20mph from BW to LSL is 3.2 minutes slower than a cart able to go 30 mph". :mornincoffee:

We were in a car driving south on Meggison, heading toward a friend's home in Lake Denham the other day. We were 5th in a line of five cars doing about 32 mph. Suddenly, one of those "Yesteryear" style golf carts comes up on our right in the cart lane, and blows by all five cars. The driver then abruptly cuts in front of the lead car, and makes a hard left directly in front of an oncoming northbound vehicle, very nearly getting t-boned in the process. All I could think at the time was, "there goes a future statistic."

for every cart you pass, there is another one waiting for you, just ahead......

Driving around in a 5000 pound truck (aka: SUV) to carry one arse is a waste on every level.

maybe everyone should just drive the speed limit
20 mph everywhere for golf carts - unless posted lower
It would be so much more pleasant for everyone, and courteous, and safe, and sane.
I'd bet Tiger Woods doesn't drive like a maniac - and all pessed off driving to a match. Stupid is . . .
