I have had a yahoo email account since the late 90s. Three days ago, yahoo updated it. The format is completely different and it doesn’t default to all emails. I can get used to that.
The main problem I have is with cutting and pasting.
I tried to write an email yesterday and I attempted to cut and paste a paragraph into the middle of the email. However, I couldn’t do it. I tried about 20 times and no matter where I put the cursor, the paste would go to the very start of the email.
Has anyone else experienced this? Does anyone know how to solve it?
I am about to go to gmail!
Thanks!

I can cut + paste without a problem (select, ctrl x, move it, ctrl v). I still hate the new version and would dump it except I've used it since the 1990s.

I have been cutting and pasting for years. The updated version pastes but not where I want to paste it! It puts it at the top of the email - even if I want to paste it at the bottom.
This is on my computer. I haven’t tried it on my phone.

Strange, I have two Yahoo email accounts and have seen no recent change in them.

I've switched back to the old yahoo mail. I can't remember exactly how, but I think it's in the settings, appearance, and way way down, there's a tab that says "switch back to old Yahoo mail". Since I'm on the old one, the only link I see is a big one on the header page that says "Change to New Yahoo Mail"

From looking at the internet, it appears that yahoo has removed that option.
What annoys me is that I never opted for the new version!

This is from a comment on Reddit.
Just checked with support. They have officially discontinued the old version. Currently looking into swapping all my accounts over to my business gmail account.

Getting back to the original question - is anyone, who has the NEW version, able to cut and paste without any problem?

I don't know if it's been removed, but I just did that 2 days ago. I bet it's down there somewhere, you really have to hunt for it now. The "Change back to Old Mail" used to be a big header, that is gone.

Well, bad me, I just created a phony yahoo account with new mail and tried to change it. Here's the note I got:
The classic version of Yahoo Mail for Desktop has been discontinued. It's no longer possible to switch to that version.
My apology if it doesn't work. Darned yahoo

Hate to be the bearer of bad writing on the wall, but it is not a surprise that old email accounts are going defunct. When is the last time yahoo, or earthlink, or concentric, or hotmail or aol were relevant on the consumer scene? These accounts will likely all go away.
My suggestion: Set up a new email account with a relevant contemporary email provider (like gmail or apple's me.com, etc.). Start using that with all new contacts or requests for your email address.
In the meantime, go into your current provider's settings (yahoo, whatever) or google it to find out how to have all emails forwarded to your new email provider. Over time, either ask people to update their contact info with your new email address or take this opportunity to purge out regularly received spam email.
Sorry for the bad news, but this is the cost of adaptation to stay current.

If you go online, there are a lot of complaints about the new version. I have not seen one person say that it is an improvement.
We can only hope that yahoo will do as Coke did back in 1985. They went back to Coke Classic in less than three months. But I doubt that yahoo will listen to the people that use it.

Just tested the issue. Nothing like you experience (Paste goes to bottom.) New Yahoo, CCP works exactly like one would expect it to.
I'm on a Mac, OSX 15.3.1

The old accounts on Yahoo aren't going defunct. The accounts are still valid and work just fine. What's changed is the layout of their e-mail system. You still use your normal usual old yahoo e-mail account, and it still pulls up all your old e-mails that you got back in 1997 and never bothered to delete, and all the 5000 spam e-mails you get every month are still in your spam box.
It just has a different appearance, and the functionality is slightly different, according to folks on this thread.
I use the previous version of yahoo and switched when the option was available. So I don't have to see the new version at all.

You can setup microsoft outlook on your pc or apple device to access your yahoo mail. Then just use outlook to view/send your yahoo mail. Very easy to use and you can cut/paste without problem

The Gmail app will also aggregate multiple accounts, however all reply emails will append the Gmail.com address vs the yahoo, AOL one etc.

I really hate the new Yahoo. Mainlyt because there is no SPAM or TRASH files. I miss trash folder: if I inadvertently trash an article and I want it back. I know there is a way to go back to old version, just haven't done it, yet.

I was on yahoo email today. I tried to cut and paste in the middle of the email and it worked!!
I didn’t do anything than I hadn’t done the past few days but I today I was able to cut and paste anywhere in the document.
However, I did contact yahoo about the problem so it appears that they solved it!!

At the bottom of the folders list you will see 3 dots "...", click on that and you'll see the Spam and Trash folders in the drop down.

I don't have a problem posting copied items anywhere in the emails, so I can't help with that, but I may be able to help with the priority issue.
Click on the 3 dots "..." at the bottom of the folders list and select Settings from the drop down. Go to the Personalize Inbox option and turn Inbox Categories off. Close the yahoo mail tabs and when you reopen them, you shouldn't see the categories.

I’ve been on the new format for a couple of weeks now and I have all of my folders including spam and trash.
The biggest issue I had with the new format was that it only showed select messages in the Inbox. Had to change the criteria to show ALL messages in the inbox.
I also had to go into the spam folder and mark a bunch of messaged as NOT spam so future messages from those senders will go to my inbox.

Yeah, they keep "improving" it, all while losing market share and ****in' off their long-term base.
Same for Ebay.
Is AI suggesting and making these changes ?
