Anybody else go to the John Lovitz show at The Tracy last night ?
The 4 of us thought it was not very funny. Maybe we were expecting too much after the great Howie Mandel show last week. We appreciate The Villages Entertainment trying to schedule some bigger names but it appears that they aren’t selling many tickets to these shows. The place was half empty at the two shows we went to.

I liked his role in two and half men the jingle writer winner episode. Course I like all episodes two and half men, natural role for Charlie!

^Agreed, hilarious show! Watched all the episodes many times, know most of the lines now before they say them.
They got away with a lot of things that you couldn't not easily get past the censors back then. Lovitz short story arc was pretty good. "I'll let her hold my little trophy. The little statue I was awarded also."

Tickets at the Tracy are almost double what they are at the Savannah the couple of times I've considered booking. Yes, it's a nicer, newer venue. But I don't see them selling a lot of tickets at the $100+ price point. JMO

Yes, it’s a lot nicer than the Savannah, but the acts they are booking would have played the Sharon. Cheap Trick, Jefferson Starship, The Beach Boys are all Sharon talent. The seating at the Savannah with the folding chairs is not ideal.

Wonder why they think Tracy is worth so much for tickets?

We have been disappointed in the pricing at the Tracy. They advertise tickets from the mid-$40s but when you look for them on the website, they’re usually double that or higher.
This was glaringly obvious to us when I was shopping for Cheap Trick tickets. Oh well…
As far as Lovitz, I am a big fan. But as we thought about going to this show, we realized that he doesn’t come across to us as a stand up.
He’s more of a comedic actor. So we passed on that show.

We went to the Mandel show and if you like F bombs it was great but from a comedic standpoint, it was a waste of time and money.

I went with high hopes of filled with jokes and him retailing this with stories of his movie experiences behind the scenes, etc. Man was I wrong. I left at the 50 minute mark as that a few others I noticed. The first 50 minutes was nothing, but his opinion on politics along with a few crude bodily noises people make. Was sadly disappointed. Oh well, I hope other people enjoyed it again just my opinion, but I thought it was not a funny show at all.

We love Jay Leno but when we saw him at The Sharon the venue was only about 2/3 full. And those prices were high, which is why we thought he wasn’t sold out. No one in my circle will go to The Tracey due to pricing.
I always feel a bit sad for the performers when they don’t draw a full venue but I am not paying higher prices to pay for the building of a theatre. The same shows outside of The Villages are a lot less $. Can go out to eat for the price difference

Guess as long as their total revenue at Tracy is higher than others in the villages they will continue to keep Tracy pricing as is

“Outside the Villages” is where the overly-hyped ( their PR people are masters at PR)Mr Swindles Peculiarium will run for 10 days under a big top in a Wildwood field.
While we are sadly 900 miles away now, we will miss it.
I’ll be tuning in here for reviews but have heard enough from past shows that we won’t ’miss it’
Your mileage may vary but reading the one- and two-stars ( which you know aren’t shills) indicates sad carnival food and $5 for a cup of coke.
Show runs 90 minutes minus intermission ( likely to get you to buy more concessions.)
For those that attend, I hope I’m wrong and that you enjoy.

That also turns me off. Technically true; the seats in the last 2 rows all the way in the back or similar are the lowest price, but no one actually wants to sit there. Any decent seats are double or more. My guess is that's an intentional marketing gimmick, because if they advertised the tix at $100+, no one would even go to the sales page.
They will eventually lower prices when the shows are half empty, or they won't lower prices if people continue to pay the overpriced fees. Time will tell.

The pricing for The Tracy is basically the same as it is for The Sharon.

I find it really annoying that the pricing at the Tracy has a varying fee added to the ticket cost. The fee apparently depends on the cost of the ticket; the higher the ticket, the higher the fee. Not a good business practice IMO.

The Sharon is "tiered" like all good theaters. The Tracy is a high school auditorium.

I didn’t know JL did stand-up. Whenever I’ve seen him interviewed and he is asked why he doesn’t do stand-up, he would say it’s because stand-ups say funny things and he says things funny. I would agree with that, but I still wish I had been in town to see the show.

I think that is a very astute self-observation on the part of JL. All of his bits on SNL tended to be repeat versions of characters like "Master Thespian" and "The Liar". No surprises, yet still mildly amusing, at least to me.
