I’d recommend going to a plant nursery (Fairfield Farms, K&N Landscapes, etc) and asking them what would work best in your location.
I could give you some names of plants to look for, but they might not have them in stock or they might not work in your location for any number of reasons.

You can also contact Master Gardener to see if your desired plant would be suitable for this climate.

That isn't ivy, it's Confederate Jasmine. A much better plant for this area than ivy, and the blooms are VERY fragrant. There is a variegated variety, the leaves are light green and white/yellow so showy even when not blooming. Been using that Var. Jasmine in my designs for decades. Hard to find sometimes, but that just adds to how special it is. Too much sun is not great for growing ivy, and the varieties that do well in the sun tend to crawl more than climb and are invasive.

Looked again, hard to tell, your plant might be night blooming jasmine or even one of the honeysuckle types.
