Would appreciate a referral for someone who specializes in fixing kitchen appliance issues and that is dependable.

Issue: My dishwasher is operating fine, but is loose, and is coming out of its cabinet. This causes it to stop mid cycle, and I have to push to it back into place and re-set the cycle.

I called Mike Scott plumbing, but I guess this is not a “specific” plumbing issue, but an issue with the installation of dishwasher, so they don’t handle those issues.

Even though my home is no longer under warranty, I called the Villages warranty dept for a referral. They referred me to who they would use for this issue. I called that company, and they referred me to another individual who handles these specific issues. Called that person, left voice message, but calls are not being returned, so I have lost confidence in the quality of that referral.

Thanks for any referrals anyone can give me.

The number I have for Jerry Thibodeau is 346-233-7175, however, the number no longer works. Have you contacted him lately, because I have heard that he is no longer in business?

I would recommend Dave's Appliance, 352-245-3598.

I typed the wrong area code for Thibodeau Repairs. The correct # is 346-233-7175. Sorry for the error.

That is the number I have, but it does not work. Are you sure he is still in business?

This is probably a handyman job. There is a metal bracket that attaches to the top of the dishwasher that then gets screwed into the cabinet on each side.

I've never seen one shut off from that unless the problem is unrelated and you are assuming it's because the unit is loose.

If the dishwasher is shutting off in mid-cycle, and pushing it back in place solves the problem, it sounds like the electrical connection is loose. I would call an appliance repair company. I recommend Dave's, 352-245-3598. Another good repair guy is Bob, 770-826-3620. Good luck.

Had me worried, we think highly of Jerry so called the number. Message said he is out of the office for the weekend.

There are normally 2 brackets under the counter top that hook into the dishwasher, these hold the dishwasher in place. Also, the feet need to be adjusted so the dishwasher is stable in the installed position.

If you can afford it, purchase an upgraded dishwasher and have it installed. Problem fixed and you'll be amazed at how good the new ones are.

Interesting. I have called his number several times over the past few months. Each time, I get silence. So, I called again and waited, and eventually I got a voicemail message. I think there must be something wrong with the phone number, or maybe it is being forwarded to another number? Very strange.

I have used Jeff Cooper of Affordable Appliance Repair - 850-508-2652. He has fixed my washing machine and replaced an electrical coil in my stove top, and I find him to be honest and very reasonable. Good luck!

There are two brackets with one screw each. Sometimes installers fail to put them in. Check to see if they are missing. Simple to replace. You might want to pull dishwasher all the way out to ensure it's plugged in all the way. Easy to pull out and push back. There are leveling taps on the bottom of dishwasher. If that's the problem handyman can fix.

Typically only 2 screws hold it in place- they may have been stripped? Sounds like Shoddy installation -

Normally a dishwasher doesn't move out that much during a cycle even if it is not screwed in, unless the feet are drastically off causing it to "walk". The fact that it shuts off and "walks", sounds like the motor is going.....motor starts spinning, throwing the machine off balance, system shuts down.

This guy came out to my house, couldn't fix the problem I had (it required a licensed plumber, which he is not), and tried to walk away without any payment whatsoever. I couldn't have been more impressed. Who does a service call and doesn't ask to be paid? Call him.

Our microwave has decided to protest in sympathy for the dishwasher. It refuses to heat up anything but will do all of the other functions.

We will fix its wagon by replacing it. Not worth calling repairman as it is 15 years old.

The front footings are loose. Get a wrench and a carpets level and twist the adjustment nuts until the front is a little hight than the back..

Most of the suggested solutions are ignoring that the OP said that the dishwasher is stopping in mid-cycle. This indicates to me that there is a loose electrical connection, which has nothing to do with the screws securing the dishwasher to the countertop.

Interestingly my wife found the guide that came with the microwave.

It has 2 filters that should be cleaned monthly and a grease filter that should be replaced monthly.

Who knew?
