My daughter asked the bartender at the Market at Sawgrass for a cup of ice for her baby to keep the milk cool. He charged her .80 cents. WOW!

I would ask if that was on the menu? If not, how would you know that cost up front? Just last week they gave me water for a kids bottle at no cost but did point out there was a bottle refill in the back near the restroom (my bad). It’s possible a lot of people come in to get ice for their carry in beverages but still?

I suspect the charge is for the cup he supplied.

This post needs some clarification. People go to a bar to drink adult beverages and to mingle with adults, not to encounter babies. Why is a baby at the bar?

Whatever happen to courtesy in patronizing retail business.
If your loosing profits by giving away ice, then close your doors.

Ice is one of their supplies. It should have been one of the daughter's supplies if she needed it. They can't just willy nelly hand things out in a public environment like Sawgrass. It's not like a local pub. I also suspect the ask for the ice was independent of an actual drink order.

I agree. And, if I go to a bar and there is a baby there, I will leave and go somewhere else.

A lot of places take inventory by the cup count, I suspect that is why she was charged.
