We have a chest of drawers, a dresser (without mirror) and a large wardrobe that we intend to use in a spare room and want to have them painted. They are all solid, high quality pieces of furniture. Anyone that has had something similar done and can recommend anyone local as an option? Thanks.

Since you state these are solid high-quality pieces, IMHO I would sand and refinish, as I really like a good wood finish. But if you are set on going with paint you will still need to completely remove the existing finish, sand and completely clean the surface (no dust etc.). I would then proceed with using a high-quality spray paint to refinish. I would avoid using a brush or similar due to dripping or running. I have done this several times and it is generally a time intensive process.
If you do not find a person or company to do this you might look into selling the furniture and look into the used furniture stores, we have found some really nice buys at these.

Not necessarily so. I have good news. Using chalk paint, the first two steps can be avoided. The furniture would just need to be cleaned of dust, grime, finger oils, etc.
I found a perfect dining table at a secondhand store when I moved here. It had a warm wood top with dark almond/yellowish-colored legs and skirting. I did a simple cleaning of it and then applied two coats of white chalk paint with a brush. When sufficiently dry, I then applied a clear finishing wax as described on the chalk paint container. It protects the paint and provided a slight luster.
It really could not have been easier and I'm pleased with the results. Install keywords: chalk paint furniture in- - images.google.com to see lots of photos and use the same keywords in Youtube to see videos about it.

Totally lacking in decorating skills. Painted furniture used to be and perhaps still is popular. There were kits. You would apply the base coat of paint an antiquing glaze. I painted the molding with gold paint. You need to carefully remove all the wax from the furniture and lightly sand it.
Far as decorating skills, a painted piece would be an accent piece. Not all the furniture

I had a dated Thomasville bedroom set painted (plus changed hardware),
and I’m very pleased with the results.
I sent you a PM!

I highly recommend Annie Sloan chalk paint. You can do it yourself and avoid painting and sanding. Perhaps try it on a mirror or something small first to see if you like.

Highly recommend Jordon Vieira of Capital Interiors. 860-576-6665
He painted our 25 year old dining room chairs and table as well as our kitchen cabinets. He did an unbelievable job. He uses paint you can't get and is meticulous with his work. You won't be disappointed. Can show you pics if you want.
