You did not state the type of fan, but if it is a solar fan, I would try the solar guys, I have no idea for an AC powered fan.

If it’s attic fan with vent slat openings I would check for something that vibrated loose on slats, hinges, frame bracing. Also check belt for deterioration. If solar can check for loose things. If you can’t get up there I can’t help with who to call?

Google (DDG) it. Most of the ideas are DIY as long as you can climb the step stool or ladder to get at it.
That being said, there are so many possible causes. So expect to trial-and-error the job and maybe end up without success.

It's a wired fan controlled by a thermostat. Not solar. It's mounted to the roof decking. Can't find a manufacturer on it.

Thanks. It's a wired fan mounted to the roof decking. Can't find a manufacturer. Everything seems to be tight. Probably bad bearings.

I would first determine if the fan is really worth repairing. If not, you can either turn it off and leave it off, or buy a new fan.

We've had this type of fan at a couple of houses, put in solar powered fans here, really helped the house cool more efficiently and keep the attic below 'melting' levels of heat. Depending on age of the fan I agree with comment above, if it's older I would seriously consider replacing it. Should be able to do that from below and leave the 'mushroom vent' attached to the roof,

The big box stores sell 'gable' fans which I think is what you have. If so a new one should be around $150, and typically 4 screws to hold it in place, so if you are handy, I would go that way.

Replace it with a solar attic fan. They don’t make any noise.
