Would appreciate a recommendation to do a valve job or entire engine replacement on a 1994 Dodge Van B+ RV. Going through oil very quickly.

AH, in a former life, this would be a DIY project, I rebuilt 4 engines, but no more. You could call Sumter Tire or Wildwood Tire to see if they would be interested in at least testing the engine to see if it can be rebuilt or needs to be replaced. I would need to check, I think I still have a compression tester. They may also be able to determine if it valves, rings or something else. Finally, you may find it cost effective to get a rebuilt engine and replace the existing one. Sorry I cannot provide a specific company.

I am not a car guy at all, but I would suggest calling Michael's Automotive, 352-365-2955, in Fruitland Park.

What is a good ‘94 Dodge van worth? My guess is that you will have more in the repair than the car is worth. If you are really attached to it, then I guess it doesn’t matter.
Edit: I guess I missed the class B Rv. Good luck

No signs of blowing out out rear main seals or valve covers? Not leaking right? If valve guides are leaking should be proofing smoke on start up. If blows blue smoke on hard acceleration probably rings? If bottom of van from bell housing back saturated with oil probably rear main seal leaking. Also if engine burning oil it should show up on spark plugs and tailpipe should be black sooted up?
I think you probably got 318 (5.2L) or 360 (5.9L) cu in engine in Rv. Those were very good engines.

IMO For price of new replacement one that’s chicken feed.

A B+ Rv travel van is very much worth it, unless it is high milage.
They are not your run-of-the-mill work van.

On 466 just before hwy 27/441 on the South side of the road is a auto-repair shop. Their prices are great and they are fast. You will see a fenced in area with a few cars parked. Go in and ask what the costs would be. Good Luck.

I would check out this firm. I made a purchase years ago. Still ticking awayhttps://fraserengineco.com/5-2-liter-dodge-chrysler-engines/
You have the engine shipped to the shop that is going to work on it.

I would go with 5.9, same block same space wise with more torque.

No leaking oil or dripping of any kind, I would have expected to see some. Van is in great condition otherwise. New vans are 6 figures which is too rich for me. I plan to replace motor. I'll look at the tail pipe for signs of smoke residue. Thank you.

I've been working with Ollie's Automotive in Leesburg. They seem knowledgeable and experienced. Anyone have experience with Ollie's?

Unless their big price difference I’d go with 360, but that’s me. Nothing wrong with 318, 360 will have more power and torque.
Quote from goggle AI
primary difference between the LA 318 and 360 Dodge engines lies in their displacement: the 318 has a displacement of 318 cubic inches (5.2L), while the 360 has a displacement of 360 cubic inches (5.9L). This difference in displacement translates to a larger cylinder bore in the 360, resulting in more power and torque, but also potentially less fuel efficiency.
Here's a more detailed breakdown:
Displacement:
The 318 is a 318 cubic inch (5.2L) engine, while the 360 is a 360 cubic inch (5.9L) engine.
Bore and Stroke:
The 360 has a larger bore, meaning the cylinders are wider, and the stroke (the distance the piston travels) is slightly longer, leading to more displacement.
Power and Torque:
The 360 generally produces more power and torque due to its larger displacement, but this can vary depending on the specific build and tuning.
External Balance:
The 360 is externally balanced, meaning it has a thicker harmonic balancer with a groove cut into it to help with crankshaft vibration control, while the 318 is internally balanced.
Casting Numbers:
The definitive way to differentiate between the two is to look for the casting number on the block, which will clearly indicate the engine's size, according to
But I would discuss it with mechanic about any extra costs if any? it may not be worth it?
