It was fun to watch and it was nice to see Augusta National let it's hair done a bit for all the levity.

The only thing not to love is the difficulty in getting tickets!!
Impossible for the tournament and extremely difficult for the practice rounds!

So far, I have a perfect Masters record. I have never been invited to play.

Another perfect record here. Never wasted time watching pros show off and make me feel bad about my game when I could go out and have fun actually playing.
Golf is, imho, a great game to play, boring to watch.

I've entered the ticket lottery every year for as long as I can remember and never won.

A work colleague of mine knew someone who won the lottery.

I was very fortunate and won the lottery the first time I entered it. It was for one of the practice rounds. I was mainly interested in seeing the beautiful course and having a famous pimento cheese sandwich. We lived in SC at the time so it was just a car ride away. Entered the lottery several times after that but never won.

What’s not to love is all the morons yelling (in the hole ) on a par 4 with the first shot.

I watched a video recently about some of the rules while at the Masters.
1) no cell phone, if you’re caught, you’re booted out. They actually have pay phones if you need to use them.
2) No running. Power walking only. If u sprint, you’re gone.
3) you’re not allowed to take anyone’s folding chair even if it’s been empty for hours.
4) no sitting on the grass. If you wanna sit down, you have to use a master’s folding chair.
5)No sunbathing 😂
6) no branded gear. If you show up with Branded gear you won’t be allowed in. Masters is the only tournament where you won’t find any advertising.
7) No tipping
8) no coolers. They say food is really cheap there, low costs.
9) shoes on
10) No backward caps
11) you’re not allowed to collect any sand as a souvenir or you will go to jail.
In my opinion, the rules are what make the masters so iconic.

1. 1984 Players were allowed to bring their own caddies....this was not a racial thing. A rain delay occurred in earlier years and half the caddies went home. When play continued they were short caddies.
2. Somewhere around hole 4 or 5, off in the woods, is Berckmans Place, Special Ticket needed. Gate Guards on duty. At a cost of 30 million they built an area of bars and restaurants and gift shops. Most food and liquor free. Outside is a 9 hole putting green for folks to experience Augusta Greens replete with caddies as well.
3. The members are all identified with green jackets. Players
winning the masters get a green jacket. Member for a year. Jackets cannot leave the property.(only for 1 year for winners) Multiple winners don't get multiple green jackets. The only man to abscond with a green jacket was Gary Player. His went to South Africa and they allowed it to happen.
4. Dwight Eisenhower spent many days at Augusta. He had a place to stay and they even built him a fishing pond for relaxation. It became the little Whitehouse. Richard Nixon ran the country then.
5. The Berckman Family sold the property to Bobby Jones group. We look forward to the spectacle every year.
It costs 70,000 and it was originally a nursery, so a lot of the flowers were in place.
6. Opened in 1932 during Depresssion, In order to attract more business, Jones and manager Clifford Roberts created the Augusta National Invitational in 1934. They could invite whomever they wanted and do whatever they wanted. This event would later get a name change to The Masters. Remember its not Masters it's THE Masters.
7. Went there once, grass is so good it looks fake, had to touch it. Elevations on golf course much much more than what you see on TV.
8. The course has never been rated for difficulty. (or never published) But a rough estimate would be around 77 or 78.
9. Greg Norman never won The Masters. Closes, lost to Larry Mike on an overtime chip in. And lost to Jack Nicklaus in 1986 on an errant 2nd shot on hole #18.
10. If a member recommends another person for membership and they don't get accepted the member is removed from the membership as well. If you get a letter allowing you to join Augusta Golf Club and decline, you will never get another chance.
Augusta has a very rich history which it is cleansing with Womens and Junior programs.
It was only a matter of time. Cudo's for them for growing up.
All that being said, Take the time to enjoy golfs BEST event, as much as you can because, by design, there is no other like it. Happy Watching.

They actually have pay phones if you need to use them.
The “pay” phones are free.
Payphones available for patrons to use at the Masters (https://www.wtoc.com/2023/04/07/payphones-available-patrons-use-masters/)

Yesterday during the first round, Damon Hack rattled off the names of several well known pros he observed from other sports. I guess they were very fortunate playing the ticket lottery.

Ken Griffey, Jr is at The Masters, as a Credentialed Photographer.
A lot of the celebrities you see over the weekend, will get to play the course on Monday.
Also, the big MAM (Monday After The Masters) tournament, is at the Dye Club at the Barefoot Resort in Myrtle Beach, on Monday. It's a charity Pro-Am, hosted by Hootie & the Blowfish.

If you're looking for someone to root for this weekend, Matt McCarty would be a good choice.

Justin Rose is atop the Leaderboard this morning and he's a great guy and one of the best liked players on the Tour.
Of course, both of the above are likely to finish behind Corey Connors, who's the only PGA Tour player in 15 years, to win a tournament after Monday Qualifying.

Unfortunately, neither myself nor Rickie Fowler were invited to play in The Masters this year. We are both disappointed.

Yikes, what a Final Round!!! Like a storybook.
Actually IMO that was the best Final round of a Masters, if not any Major, definitely in my lifetime.
Way to go Rory!

What an unbelievable roller coaster round. I was pulling for the young Swedish guy, who has an extremely bright future (Ludvid Aberg, the smiling assassin). Unfortunately, he came up short, but Rory preserved through 4 double bogeys and pulled it out with a couple of unbelievable clutch shots down the stretch. The Masters and the Ryder Cup are definitely my favorite viewing golf events. Congratulations to Rory on winning the career grand slam.

That finish was pro golf at its best.
Well done Rory. You did it the hard way!
