How many of you realize that President Obama has a higher job approval poll number at this time in his term that G.W. Bush had at the same time in his term?

The job approval rating for Bush was 32% and is 50% for Pres. Obama. Also at the same point in his term, Reagan had 48% and Clinton had 63% job approval rating.

You can go with the glass being half-full or half-empty for Pres. Obama but there was only one conclusion that could be drawn about George.

From today's Rasmussen Reports: Wednesday, February 02, 2011. The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Wednesday shows that 29% of the nation's voters Strongly Approve of the way that Barack Obama is performing his role as president. Forty-one percent (41%) Strongly Disapprove, giving Obama a Presidential Approval Index rating of -12.

Better do better research. Check Feb. 2003. That would be the equivalent to where Obama is today. Bush is at about 60% approval, and rising.

environment without constant referral to Bush as a base line. It has absolutely nothing to do with the current situation, environment or time in history.

What matters is the current situation(s), what is said/done.....and what is not done that is said by this president. The much more fair way to measure him (or anybody else for that matter...president or not).....how is he doing VS what he said? How is he doing VS the needs of we the people? How is he doing VS the security/protection of the USA?

I personally do not hold much credence with polls as their authors have a way of manipulating desired results and also manage short upticks with populace leanings . For example Obama desires to shore up his voting base his Administration has just approved the unionization of the TSA. That is 63,000 sure votes in 2012 if this initiative holds. The Republicans are attempting to block it. The TSA claims that they will not be able to strike if it would cause a security risk but that is what PATCO said and Ronald Reagan ended up firing all of them. I personally believe it will be very harmful to national security to unionize this group Perhaps someone has a rationale as to why it would be a good thing?

The last group of workers who need the traditional protection of unions would be ANY government workers since there are so many rules protecting them. And I say that as someone who IS in that situation. Fortunately, I was not forced to join a union when I converted from being a contractor to an employee of the government.
