Power outage & EP Taking CC information. Does anyone know the cause of the power outage yesterday around the Brownwood area? Also checking into golf at Evans Prairie during the outage yesterday the staff were writing down credit card numbers, security codes and area codes . I believe this is against the law to do so. Other clubs during outages would simply mark your name on the tee sheet and the player would need to return after the round to play (once the power returned). The staff had the printed tee sheets before the outage so they had the vast majority of golfers names and could easy look up golfers numbers in their data base if they didn't return to pay.

It's not "against the law" to do that but you have the right not to provide this information and then they have the right to deny you to golf.

The problem is, you don't know the person who's taking down all this information and if they are disposing it properly after it's use. Hopefully, the Villages employees taking the information are good people who were vetted upon employment and will shred all the written information after it was used.

Asking them to let you play golf is like you going to the supermarket and telling the cashier you will come back and pay them later. Again, they don't know you either so many might not do that and they don't want to have to run after you to get paid.

What they should have done is halt play until the power came back on for the credit cards or only took cash. Either way a huge inconvenience.
