More breeds than you realize have a normal life of span under the age of 10. Cancer is being diagnosed at a higher rate, mainly due to specialized Veterinarians who can diagnosis and equipment to help with the diagnosis.
Orthopedic Veterinarians are extremely busy, but doesn’t improve their lifespan, only quality of life.

I wouldn't touch that thing with a 100 foot pole. Sounds like a wing-and-a-prayer for a price tag and plenty of risk.

It has become ever more obvious that the healthiest life for both humans and animals involves the fewest number of injections.

This is really interesting and thank you for posting this! Interesting that it's for over 14lbs of weight.

My "pup" just turned 16 and was diagnosed with heart failure over 3 years ago. When he was diagnosed we all were so upset that this guy was gonna go any day. But here he is 3 years later. He's a little guy, about 10lbs and from what I've researched these little ones can hang in there longer.

Interesting. Dog's lifespans are considerably shorter, at least big dogs. I'm convinced it the toxic dog food they sell to us. I've lost a few labs to cancer at a much younger age that usual.

My toy/mini poodle that's 16 has never like his dog kibble and always has run over to the cat's bowl instead. So I started feeding them all high quality cat food. My vet was okay with this. Now he's 16 and has heart failure but this guy has no indication that he intends to ever skip a meal. I think the cat food is what keeps him hanging on after 3 years ago at emergency vet at 2am.

Good to hear.

Diet and exercise is the answer to longevity in humans and animals the same.
Use manufactured, chemical added gunk, don't expect your dog to live a full active life.
Meat (at least 70%) and veg is the best and healthiest option.
Magic elixirs offering longer life, are snake oil sales.

These drugs work by reducing reducing insulin-like growth factor 1 (IGF-1) so it's a completely new way to try for longevity. You can reduce it with diet, exercise, and possibly intermittent fasting or calorie restriction...but who wants to do that, right? Lower IGF-1 levels may lead to longer, good quality life. This is what the trials are attempting to show.

The biggest reason I'm excited about this drug is that their director of veterinary medicine, Brennon McKenzie, is an outspoken proponent of evidence based medicine. I'm sure if this becomes "a thing" there will be plenty of hard data to support its use. Inside Loyal: Meet the team (https://loyal.com/posts/team-profiles)

As my doctor says, “supplements don’t have to prove that they work. They just have to prove that they don’t hurt you”. I imagine the same is true for animal “magic elixirs”.

FYI cats can die from eating dog food so please check with your vet before feeding one type of food to different species of animals

I am sorry that you are medically uninformed. Vaccinations have saved 100’s of millions of lives. Probably from smallpox alone.

Who (except you) mentioned "vaccinations", in this thread?

All dogs that I’ve had life span was between 15 and 19 years. Every time one goes I say no more. For me so hard when they go.
