we have started putting air tags on each other when we go to the grocery store. . to prevent silver alerts. .

My wife actually did lock the keys in the car, and since I was just along for the ride, I didn't bring my wallet or keys!
I hoofed it a mile back to the house, not that far but it was incredibly hot that day and I wasn't dressed for exercise.
I tried hitching as I walked, but the best I got was some folks waving to me as they passed by. I eventually made it home and found the "secret key place" and drove back in our other car. Lesson learned: I do not ever leave home without my keys.

PS- My wife enjoyed a cool drink in the cafe next door while waiting

Lesson learned. Next time send your wife back to the house to get the spare key and you enjoy the cool drink while waiting.

I never lock the car except for using the remote, impossible to lock them in the car unless you're in there too.

Considering how often we see silver alerts when on the turnpike in the vicinity of The Villages I think this is a very smart idea. Funny too. 😂

I remember a comedian during a "Blondestar" routine where a woman locks her keys OUTSIDE of her car.

One issue I had with the new key fob keys you should be alert for. I dropped my wife off at her office and drove away. Stopped to have breakfast and when I got back in the car, I realized I did not have my key fob! I was stuck there and had to have my wife's coworker come save me with her key fob; embarrasing! The issue is that the car will keep running when the person with the key fob leaves; but after shutting it off, it will not restart, obviously...
