We just purchased a new home in The Villages and will need a washer and dryer. Can anyone recommend an appliance store (not the big box stores) for sales and dependable service? Thank you.

Check Costco in Claremont. They deliver to here, and it includes install, needed parts, and haul-away (if needed).

We used MVB Appliances in Leesburg. Also have a store in Ocala. I did the entire thing on the phone. Sales and install was excellent. Prices were competitive.

We used Sears Online appliance store. We purchased LG and Samsung from their site and they were lower than anyone else by quite a bit with free shipping and installation. You will get an extra 10% off on your first order also. Check them out, they carry all of the major brands and models.

No same day on Sunday, we purchased a microwave few weeks ago on a saturday morning. They were booked on delivery and install till Tuesday morning but that was ok lived without working one for a few days. Installers knew their stuff.
BTW do people tip installers in Florida? We came from Va where it was not normally done and wonder about Florida culture?

Are you referring to the Appliance Direct in Fruitland Park? I don't see one in Leesburg.

Congrats on your purchase. Before you buy, make sure you know the dimensions of the appliance hookup site. Some of the appliance rooms have limited dimensions between walls and doors (Depth), Floor and overhead cabinets (Height i.e top loading lids). Width is not normally an issue. Installation of washers is simple plug in, water lines. Dryers may require a plumber if a gas line hookup.
One thing you are likely to notice. Appliance prices for the same model are basically the same at almost all stores. The difference is shipping, installation and Haul away charges.
Sams has limited models and essentially no show room. But they do offer free shipping , install (except Gas connection), and haul away if needed. Note Sumter County does offer $10 bulk item disposal if you call and get on schedule.
Good hunting.

I would never buy a Samsung appliance. Too many people have problems, and most repair places will not work on them.

Thank you for the good advice! I’m considering LG top load washer and gas dryer. Have thought about measuring space available before purchasing but did not think about space between shelving and top load washer lid. Will certainly check before buying. All good advice! Thanks and we are thrilled about our home in Waters Edge! Closing next month.

I have only Samsung washer and dryer. Not an issue for many a year.
To purchase locally? Home Depot or Lowe’s always works. They give 10% discounts to military as a bonus. Can’t beat their prices.

Since you mentioned that you want LG top load washer...
LG Top-Load Washers | Impeller and Agitator Washers (https://www.lg.com/us/top-load-washers)
You can also buy an LG washer/dryer direct from LG
I bought our top load LG pair directly from the web site about 3 years ago.
They delivered for free, installed both units and hauled the old ones away for free.
At that time their was also a rebate on the state tax.
Would likely need a plumber to install the gas dryer though.

I know this thread is about where to buy. But I feel compelled to agree with the point about Samsung being a brand to avoid. And yes, the brand was once solid and we owned and were happy with our purchases. The issues are more recent. We purchased a gas range that was emitting a strong odor. We reported it early and made many attempts at repair. Samsung was awful to deal with ... it was so bad, we ended up junking it (since the odor was not carbon monoxide, consumer safety couldn't help ... trust me we tried everything). I have seen a number of articles since about issues with Samsung appliances.

When we moved into our new house last year we bought a GE washer/dryer and a GE Profile fridge from Costco. Costco provides a 2-year warranty on their appliances (as does The Villages on appliances that they provide with a new construction home). After signing our contract, The Villages discovered that the refrigerator that we chose at the design center would not be available fast enough to fulfil the terms of our contract so they gave us the choice of selecting something else from them or refunding our money and allowing us to buy our own after closing. We chose the latter, not because of a cost savings but because we wanted a counter-depth fridge and The Villages did not offer that option. Installation was perfect from Costco. We have passed the 1-year mark on all our appliances without a warranty claim and hoping the same for this year. I was hesitant about buying GE appliances due to problems we have had in the distant past with the GE brand, but so far, I love all my GE appliances (especially the washer/dryer, which is saying a lot because we had a Speed Queen in our last house so my bar is very high here). I highly recommend Costco for any appliance. It's worth becoming a member for the savings and service. If you live south, the Clermont store is fairly close. If you live north, a new Costco is under construction. You can't go wrong.

We purchased a Samsung Washer and Dryer set in 2010 and never had a problem with them, we moved to Floria 8 years ago and purchased LG and never had a problem with them, our daughter inherited our Samsung set and is still using them trouble free to this day, they are now 15 years old. I would have no problem buying either brand if I needed them today.

To clarify, the builder does not provide any warranty for appliances they install in a new house. The only warranty you get for the appliances is the manufacturer's warranty. Some appliances may have a 2-year warranty, but others, such as Whirlpool refrigerators, will only have a one-year warranty. This exclusion is explained in Section IX of The Villages warranty booklet.

Appliance Direct ...... in Fruitlland Park IMHO is the BEST. Nobody can touch their prices. And if you purchase in the morning or early afternoon, chances are that it will be delivered and installed that same day. I saved big bucks on a refrigerator and dishwasher at their store. And while they do have "scratch and dent" items, the majority of their appliances are still in the box and blemish free.
So, do yourself a favor and stop there first. You will be pleasantly surprised.

If you are military, a first responder, medical provider, nurse, teacher, or government employee, go online and look at The GE Appliances Store, where you will get huuuuge discounts on GE appliances through a private store site. You must be verified first through ID.me. I purchased appliances this way and paid about $2500 total for a white French door refrigerator/freezer, microwave, and dishwasher. There was a special offer at the time of my purchase for free delivery, set up, and haul away, so did not pay any extra for that. The appliances are gorgeous and work well. The delivery people were professional and knew what they were doing. Overall a great experience at a great price.

Just info. When you mention Ge Appliances, be aware that General Electric sold their Large Appliance business years ago to a Chinese company, Haier. For the most part I believe that the products are built in Louisville, Ky. This comment is not meant to be positive or negative of the business or product

Yes, I agree with Costco. I use them in Colorado for a refrigerator and the delivery and set up was very good and efficient. Also, good price on the item.

When we moved here we bought our washer and dryer from Setzer's in Ocala. We wanted Speed Queen washer and dryers and at that time, they were the only appliance dealer in the area that carried Speed Queen.
