Maybe dr casper is wonderful…ready to get a nobel prize.
This isnt the venue to ask for recommendations. Everyone here has the ABSOLUTE VERY BEST DOCTOR, LAWYER AND REAL ESTATE AGENT.
Ask neighbors and friends for rexomendations.

I don't agree. I have some professional people, but if I think they are substandard, I won't recommend them. It is often difficult to find a good person to do a job.

I've been going to Dr. Gurgen too, and I don't know if I'm happy with them or not. It's always hard to tell when you go to a doctor who is looking to find out if you're at risk of dying of cancer and might need surgery, if they're "good" or not. If they find something to cut, are they scalpel-happy? If they don't find something to cut, are they inattentive?
So if you could say WHY you wouldn't recommend his office, that'd be great.

Not sure why he hasn't been mentioned here yet - Dr. Brandon Markus, - The Dermatology Institute, Brownwood Square - telephone 352-834-7546. I've had many over the years and in different states. He is the best I've seen and I highly recommend him.

Interested in the number of biopsies done compared to the number of visits. Went to one place and they wanted to do 9 biopsies! Money maker. Next dermatologist didn’t do any!

Dr Casper is my Dermatologist. AKA Edward Scissorhands! He is very good and knowledgeable but he sliced and diced me last time there. Apparently I needed it! I will go back some day but not soon. Seriously, he is the best.

I realize that more information would be helpful but I don't want to give specific details about why I wouldn't return. I have been to a different dermatologist since being treated in Gurgen's office and I am far happier with the last physician. I have, personally, 3 reasons why I wouldn't return to Gurgen's office.

This! Seems like everyone who goes to Alliant ends up getting sliced, lazered, or whatever else they’re pushing these days. I’ve never seen anyone say they’ve come out of there unscathed, and I’m including what I’ve seen in the Medical recommendations FB group, on Nextdoor, and even Villagers YouTubers. Makes me leary of them.

I see Dr. Bolton at Alliant Derma. She’s very professional. She removed a “freckle” from my back because it was the only one there. It wasn’t like one of those pics of ugly moles, etc. It was a Melanoma. Someone else may have left it there. She can biopsy all she wants on me. As kids….we wore No sunscreen. It’s pay back time

I agree. We have friends that get cut up every 4 months by their dermatologist . They freeze or cut something each and every time they go. This is not right. There are too many knife-happy doctors out there and they know the insurance company will pay for each "find". Be careful of "thorough doctors".

And your medical degree is from where? You may wish to google Mohs procedure.

I'm not sure what you're agreeing with. I never said my doctor is knife-happy. I suggested that it's hard to know if he is or not. If I really DO need to have these surgeries, then I'm glad he's pro-active in making sure I get them. He's tried to get me to have a few on "mild" non-cancerous things that - if left alone, COULD become cancer after they first go through "moderate" and "severe" stages. But he has also been reasonable in letting me make the decision to wait on anything that's "mild" or "moderate" and take a wait and see attitude toward those.
In the past four years I've had two melanomas, one carcinoma, and two "severe" dysplastic nevum diagnosed. So I'm grateful that he found them. I just don't agree that the mild/moderate non-cancerous discolorations need to be removed or treated, unless they're in a location where it'd be really inconvenient or potentially dangerous to have a -bigger- one removed a year later if it grows to become "severe". Like - something on the bridge of my nose where my glasses rest. Or under my armpit. Or next to my eye.

I don’t need a medical degree to have an opinion. Anyone can just scroll on by if they don’t like my comment.

True, but it is an uninformed opinion. You essentially suggested that medical professionals are doing unnecessary procedures and you apparently have no medical expertise. Ok, I think I got it.

Only once in almost 10 years has a biopsy been done - I am a sun worshipper by the way! I have had a few spots sprayed but not every time I go, maybe 3 times in 10 years. I have never had them "push" anything on me.

I have had the same experience with Alliant. They did a biopsy on one spot that even I thought looked a bit strange. The biopsy results indicated that a Mohs procedure was called for. In 11 years, they have also sprayed a couple of spots with liquid nitrogen. I have not experience anything that would remotely suggest that they are doing unnecessary procedures. As far as I am able to tell, Casper has done a good job.
