I have read a few negative reviews about the Lighthouse restaurant. Never went there until today, for lunch.
It was fine. It was good. I ordered the lunch special of Fish and Chips, $6.99....Delicious. Not a huge serving, but fair for the price. Service was very good.
We ate outside, by the water, with the breeze off the lake it was delightful.
I'd recommend it.

Were the plates paper and utensils plastic? For years that is what they served food on.

I was there a couple of times just this past year (2024) for lunch. It was regular restaurant-quality ceramic and metal utensils. Not sure why it would even matter - most seafood joints in Connecticut served on paper plates with plastic utensils and you still had to pay a premium for hot buttered lobster roll platters and whole-belly clams.
Lighthouse isn't intended to mimic a high-end fancy restaurant. It's intended to mimic a local large New England seafood joint.

When we used a knife and fork to eat our food was not happy plastic started to melt.

All the more reason to “see for yourself “ rather than avoid a place because of some nitwits review.
Glad you enjoyed your meal……we do too.

Pretty sure that started during Covid.
We were last there in March and had regular plated and silverware...
Plus, the clam chowder was as good as ever!

$6.99 fish and chips? Any idea what type of fish? I can’t believe it was a quality fish at that price. Personally, I always ask…will not eat Swai or other farmed junk fish.

We have ate at the Lighthouse restaurant for lunch a couple times in the past six months.. Both times, the food was good, the beer was cold, the service was good and the prices are reasonable.

We went to the Lighthouse for dinner and the food was acceptable but not worth the price. The lake view and the outside dining was awesome! We do feel this is a good place for lunch but not for an expensive dinner.

The overall expense to put the F&C on your table, such as Taxes, Rent, electricity, gas, chiefs, waitress/waiter, cleaning expense, and their is are more I won't add. So that $2 of food probably cost $5 to $6 to put on your table. Not a great ROE.

Yes, those are not food costs..........my post was regarding food costs.
The point is, what are you really getting for $2 of food?? What kind of fish?? Gross.

It costs more than $2 for the food. Logical fallacies are a common thing around here, get used to it.
But in the restaurant business, lunch specials are cheaper, because they make up for the lower profit margin with the higher profit margin drink orders. A Corona is $5.20. A glass of Coke or Rootbeer is $4.00. Mixed drinks start at $8, average at $11, with a couple of specialty drinks over $30.

Went there last year. It's a casual seafood restaurant. The type of place you might find on the coast without the 1.5 h drive. My wife and I had lobster rolls (hers hot, mine cold), we both enjoyed the meal. Will go again.

Our group of six enjoyed Friday night lobster dinners, three weeks ago. Food was excellent price not cheap. Our server was in a great mood. We’ll go back for sure!

I had a delicious filet mignon a few weeks ago. Good beer, great setting. I only go out to eat a few times a season, and this is a fave place.

We've been there many times over the past 11-12 years and always enjoyed the food. Sometimes, the crowd was a bit too loud but we got stuck eating inside a couple of times due to weather. If the weather isn't good, we just get it to go.

You'll have to settle for third best. Mine is MUCH better than either.

Do the fr clams have bellies?

Yes they have whole-belly fried clams on the menu. They're impossibly expensive (if I remember right, it was over $30 and it came with french fries and cole slaw), but the breading was light and crispy and the flavor and "chew" was excellent.

You know not of what you speak. It was haddock. It was delicious. Nothing gross about it unless you just don't like fish.
$2 of food? What does that even mean? I might be able to buy that small piece of fish for $2, frozen at Walmart, in a bag with a bunch of other little pieces of fish, but since when is that how the restaurant experience is measured?
Of course I could get it cheaper if I wanted to cook it myself and eat it in my kitchen.

"What does that mean?"???........With restaurant food cost at ~30%, you got ~$2 of fish. Frozen, battered, haddock can't be an ideal fish. Jus say'n sounds gross to me. Not sure what Walmart has to do with this conversation.
Of course I could get it cheaper if I wanted to cook it myself and eat it in my kitchen. Nice to know, irrelevant but nice to know i guess.
