Please keep refuse of all sorts in golf cart until home. Disgusted on daily walk by trash from smokers/drinkers. Like a teen afraid of mom when arriving home, dumping from cart along path Litters this lovely home of ours. Your mom (likely) isn't here, so pick up after yourselves! https://photos.google.com/photo/AF1QipO8WyDgNLP255GYeZqTyIReqjwM3OBBlOYAYCBR

I have to say I've never really understood smokers. All these years of "Do Not Litter" campaigns and smokers will, without a thought, toss their cigarette butts out their car windows, on to sidewalks, or just any old place without a thought. (I will apologize in advance to those smokers who NEVER do this).

It doesn’t hurt to go out in the evening with your significant other for a walk and fill up an empty Walmart bag with trash. We do it about twice a month and it almost becomes a game. We almost always fill the bag or bags.

Hubby and I used to do that around my block in NJ. Hubby and I would fill up a grocery store bag each on our outings. Always wear gloves. I don't walk on the MM Paths in my neighborhood but, I have to say, my neighborhood streets are pristine here in Mallory Square.

I rarely see any trash in my area. Occasionally something blows off trucks going down BVs and occasionally beer can or small fireball bottle on MMP coming from Publix’s.

I always hoped that contractors and landscapers were doing this and not our residents. How can THAT be stopped?

I agree. I've even seen them empty out their ashtray at a stop light or in a parking lot

Lowlifes. Yeah, the back side of my house is on a major street within gates. I find about 5 butts a week tossed onto the sidewalk and into the grass behind my home.

And for the macho guys that field strip (that means tearing the paper and filter into shreds before tossing):
You think the filters biodegradable and it will just decompose? Wrong.
They use synthetic stuff now. It will outlive us all, and sometimes goes down the sewers to lakes etc. Wildlife eating it?

And sitting at a traffic light you see a person in the car in front of you drop their butt out the window?
I always honk. Yes, YOU lowlife. (again washed down the sewers for eternity)

When I first moved here I went for a long walk on a hot day. I came upon an elderly man walking the MM path along Morse Blvd. He was happily collecting rubbish on a walk. I thanked him and he smiled and told me he liked to keep busy. I thought, “this is a wonderful place where people take pride in their common areas.” I also thought, I’d like to grow older with the same sense of happy that he exuded.

The same goes for leaving a grocery cart in some random spot in the parking lot. Take the time to push the cart to a designated collection area of the parking lot or take it back to the store.

There are a lot of slobs here in "The Villages".
If someone was a slob elsewhere and moved here, they are still a slob.
None of them care about anything but themselves.

I spent a week in The Villages in December on a lifestyle tour. I was amazed by how clean all the streets were. I didn't see a speck of litter until the last day.

I’ve seen the mowers run right over trash and mulch it to the wind. The styrofoam dinner pans make the biggest mess. Kudos to those willing to pick up trash.

Probably a reflection of how trashy they keep their home, yard and vehicle.

Throwing out cigarette butts is specially bad this time of year, when we have no rain and everything is DRY.

That is a great thing to do, very neighborly.

Our residents are no angels in regard to litter. Residents tend to drive golf carts, not commercial people, and they tend to get drunk and drive those golf carts badly.

I’m always stopping and picking up garbage trails. Or elsewhere. I hate garbage.

That's where the Police come in to play. I wonder, do they EVER give out tickets when they see someone throw a cigarette but or beer can onto a street or sidewalk?

I often see/smell guys in golf carts smoking stinky cigars or cigarettes. I suspect their spouses don't allow them to smoke at home, so they go "on-the'road" to imbibe. Chickens!

That's one big + for the new ALDI'S when they open. Want a cart?, 25Cents please. It will be refunded when you return the cart.

Win-Win for sure.

If you watch golf cart on MMPs after leaving squares after or much after happy hours, you can tell it is much higher than .01.
Yes, legally drunk; the same penalties as driving a car and charged with the same crimes if you kill or hurt someone - and wrongful death lawsuits.

My all-time favorite is sitting behind someone at a light and they open their door and pour out whatever is in their cup, like I want to drive through your old coffee or energy drink...
