Are there many of us that use this wonderful brewer??
I have had 5 of these units and they all develop the same problem. They do not dispense a full cup.
Has anyone found a solution to this problem?:cus:

I don't know what model you have, but ours lets you select from 3 cup sizes. Have you been using the large cup button? If you have a really large mug even the large button won't fill it all the way. I have to do a large cup and then a small cup to fill my mug. I use the same Kcup for both. FYI Amazon.com sells a wonderful little thingie that lets you fill it with your own coffee. It is much better then the one that comes with the machine. Also, every Friday at the Amazon Friday Sale they have fabulous prices on the K cups.
I had to call Keurig once with a cleaning question and they were very helpful. Have you discussed your problem with their customer service department.

I don't use the Kueruig coffee maker, but I do use a Cuisinart. Whenever it gets to the point that it won't comletely empty the water reservoir, I know it needs cleaning. Does the Kueruig have a way of cleaning the pumping mechanism? If so, you may need to run some vinegar and water through it.

Yes I have and know exactly what youre talking about. I also switch to the Cuisinart and returned it after a few months due to the pc board failure. They now make MR Coffee (Kuerig)that is cheaper. Due to the water you need to clean the Kuerig Coffee maker with at least 2 bottles of white vinegar, due to deposits left behind from the water. The best thing to do is use the cleanest water possible. 4 Kuerigs, 1 Cuisinart, 1 Mr Coffee(Kuerig) later I have become a professional.chilout

Thank you for the warning about the water. We have a water softener for our well water and it does a pretty good job. Maybe we will need to install one in the new house in TV. Hubby and I both love the keurig...those holiday special coffees are incredible. I have the gingerbread and the spicy eggnog and loved them both.

recommends running a clear cup after EACH time you run the hot choclate. It tends to clog the openings.
When my machine was dispensing less than a cup I called their customer service number . They walked me through measuring with a measuring cup how many ounces was being dispensed for each size. They then had me go to the tea cup setting....it shows a cup and saucer...then repeat 4 times in a row, one at a time, opening the the the receptacle for the coffee insert each time. That did in fact re-calibrate my machine and all sizes were then dispensing the proper amount.
If you use the wire basket that allows one to use their own coffee you will find that the machine runs much slower than with a K-cup.
If the re-calibrate does not work call their customer service number and they will be more than helpful in assisting you in solving the problem.
The number is 1-866-901-2739.

I found the water tank had an air pocket in the bottom after filling. What I did was fill the tank, then run my finger under the tank and purge the air from the water valve. This is what I did and it fixed my issue. Hope it helps

the wire basket or "My Keurig" allows one to use their own coffee. That is what I do. I drink Decaf and k-cups just do not promote or have very much available so I use my good old Maxwell house-full strength brew.
My wife likes the variety and tries every flavor invented by man!

We get our k-cups using the subscription service at Amazon. Great variety, 15% discount, no tax and free shipping. You can modify or cancel at any time. Average price is about 45 cents per cup.
We also go to Bed, Bath, Beyond and pick up a couple of boxes when we get the $5 off coupon. Price is under 42 cents per cup and it's near 5 Guys.

Yes, you need to descale...you can call Keurig and they will tell you how...it needs to be de-scaled alot more than they suggest!
Pturner
02-07-2011, 10:18 PM
I also use Amazon's subscription service. You select the quantity you want delivered and the frequency. For example, you can choose to have one box delivered every month or every other month. They let you know when it's about to ship in case you want to modify or cancel the next delivery. You get a good discount, no tax and free shipping.
The Keurig does need to be descaled a minimum of every six months, more depending on how often you use it and the quality of your water. I use filtered water and descale every 3-4 months. If it starts getting slow to start pouring, it's time to descale.

I order my K-cups from CoffeeCow.com. Usually about $10.99 for a 24 pack. Free delivery if you order $65 or more. They also give "COW BUCKS" which is like a coupon to use with future orders. And yes, Billethkid recommendation about running a clear cup of water after EACH time you run the hot choclate. Is a good one. Not only does the HC tends to clog the openings, the flavor will remain and your next cup of coffee will taste like the HC you had earlier.

My sweetheart is an absolute coffee fiend and I am considering getting her one of these types of machines for a Christmas present. She curently has a high end espresso machine and while she likes it, the ease of use of these new K-cup machines is attractive-no grinding, no grounds everywhere, different size portions, etc. I am considering the Keurig Platinum, The Cuisinart, and the Breville (we have a Breville juicer that we love).
Researching online as to which is the best machine hasn't been very productive. Reviews for all three of the machines I am considering are mixed and none of them seem to have a clear advantage over the others. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

I agree Cuisinart is the best plus they have a 3 year warranty. I have had no problems and the refillable filter they provide works great and is not slow by any means! We buy Green Mountain coffee at Sams and even Folgers LOl Loved the Christmas blend from Fresh Market hence using the refillable filer cup was great to have. I thought the Donut Shop brand coffee was horrible so was glad by machine came with a bunch of different coffees to try so you will know what suits your taste buds best.

We've done a lot of research and have decided that we're going to purchase the Cuisinart - I have to drink decaf (migraine issues) so most of the full pot of coffee made in our Bunn goes to waste. We have a Senseo machine and do love it, but Sara Lee has stopped or slowed down distributing that good coffee (Douwe Egberts) so the pods are hard to find....so we're saying good bye to the Senseo and getting the Cuisinart. I will miss the "crema" that the Senseo pods produce, though. Don't want three machines on my counter!

I was just wondering why a French press wouldn't work.
I started using one when we were cruising on our sailboat, for different reasons but still it does the same as a K brewer. We had space issues, no room for a giant brewing machine. We had electric issues, didn't want to start a gen set, (we had a propane stove/oven) every time a cup of coffee was needed. We could brew any coffee we could find. We could brew one to three cups at a time, in the time it takes to boil water.
Just wondering why not a simple French press.

Bought our Cuisinart brewer on Friday and just love it!!!! And, no I don't agree that it's the same as the Keurig just in a more expensive package. At our local Costco, the comparable Keurig was $20 less than the Cuisinart, which has a larger water reservoir, sleek design, My K-cup compartment built in, a rinse feature, 5 cup sizes but most of all it's a Cuisinart.....have been happy with other Cuisinart appliances, so this clinched the deal and for just $20 more than the Keurig Platinum (I think)....and $50 less than at BB&B...Anyway...love it and it looks SO sleek on my countertops!!!!! :mornincoffee:The Green Mountain Decaf is very good and Timothy's Decaf Colombian is very rich and tasty, too!!! Just thought I'd put my "2 cents" in!!

Might be so but we had 2 top of the line Keurigs that pooped out just beyond the 1 year warranty and now have a Cuisinart from SAMs club at same $179 price as the first Keurig and have had no problems even though we are well beyond the warranty. It just feels "sturdier" And operates much quieter. The Keurigs gave lots of strange problems (making wrong size cups -- having to "cock" the head several times to get it to work) before finally just not working at all! We were just visiting our son in NC and found them on their second Keurigs and already experiencing the strange problems that seem to plague Keurigs.
BTW, we only make 2 to 4 cups per day so I know we didn't wear them out.

Amazon just added a new k-cup coffee line to their Subscribe & Save program. San Francisco Bay Coffee uses a mesh basket to hold their grounds instead of the plastic cup. It saves on manufacturing and shipping costs and works and tastes as good as a regular k-cup. Cost per cup using S&S is only 38 cents.

We have the Mr. Coffee with the Keurig compenents and so far so good. Only thing is, it doesn't make my large sized mugs full. I have to use a smaller mug that makes about 1 Measuring Cup full. We can use the pods 2x...but then we're not into strong coffee and use creamer. We will take note on the life-time of this (got ours over the holidays on sale at Beall's) and perhaps will look into the Cuisinart next time. We also purchased the filter from Walmart so we can use the regular coffee grounds. Hopefully Keurig will get their issues ironed out.

I have a Breville (replaced a Keurig that stopped working). I have zero problems since I use distilled water. No clogging, scale, etc. The flavor of the coffee is much better. If you don't want to go distilled, get a water softener from Lowes or Home Depot. Anything that uses hot water will work better and last longer.

Either on mailed flyers (sign up for mail list or open a Kohls Card)
also you can go to gottadeal.com and pull the 30% kohls when they are available..normally one week a month. But the code you get online can only be used online and can be used in conjuntion with a free ship code also. I always wait for both. :) Normally all codes need the kohls card. no matter the make of the brewer, if you want it to last do not use the tap water in TV. Far too many minerals that will in fact slow down your machines flow and eventually clog it. Yes cleaning with white vinegar helps some, but not enough.
Spring or distilled water is best.

I agree that the Keurig may not be for everyone. I have a couple, one in my home (about 3 -4 years now) and one in my office and have never had an issue. I drink 2-4 cups a day using the Keuring. Scale buildup can occur in any coffee maker if it is not properly maintained. As to the issue of the cost of k-cups, would you be aware of the k-cup insert that you can purchase so that you can use your own coffee? I grind my own coffee beans each morning and enjoy the fresh coffee. I do use the k-cups if I am running late for example, but overall, I agree, even on sale, they can be pricey. I think I am going to go get another fresh cup now! :mornincoffee:

I think I paid in the neighborhood of $20 for it. If I paid in excess of $100 for a coffee maker and had the troubles mentioned by previous posters, I think I would throw a good ole Ohio hissy-fit! I still can't figure out what's included in the Keurigs that makes them worth $100. Just sayin'.

Our daughter purchased a Keurig for us (a 3 cup one) a few years ago. It lasted just short of a year and a half and we returned it to Costco (in VT) but you must make sure that you have the widget that brews your own blend of coffee. They took it back, no questions, and we purchased another when they gave us a refund. One would think a $130 plus coffee maker would last more than a few years.

We bought our first one 5+ yrs ago. We got the one with 5 different cup sizes so hubby could have a big cup of coffee. I use the smaller settings, depending on what I am making. We are on our 3rd Keurig (current one was a replacement for one that died in March 2012). We love it - even though it is pricy for drinks - it is cheaper than Starbucks, and love the convenience of it. Also, hubby and I do not drink the same drinks, and we both alternate our choices through out the day. It is not for everyone, and hubby was very skeptical at first. Now, when we travel he takes it with him if he can. LOL

Sounds like there may be coffee grounds partially blocking the inline filter. Remove the top of your machine. Cut the tie wraps that hold the water lines to both sides of the filter. Pull off both lines. Blow into the filter. The filter is dense, so you will not feel air coming from the other end, but it will dislodge the blockage. Aim it at a cup of water. If there is a blockage you will see it in the cup of water. Put water lines back on the filter. Replace the tie wraps. Put the top back on and give it a try.

:mornincoffee:How about sources for the best bargains for coffee.
I purchase from Lowes, they have a good variety, and if you are a Veteran you get 10% off the price (must show ID) or if you have a Lowes credit card, you can also get 10% off.

I hate it! I find it is so much richer coffee than keurig to make with an expresso/latte maker. And almost the same amount of effort for being able to select your own coffee.
