Moving into our home in Richmond went perfectly except . . . I backed into the garage door with my bike rack. A couple of small dings. No big deal to me, but the Mrs. says fix or replace. The house is only a couple of years old so I’m hoping That the damaged panel can be replaced. Is this an option or would it be the whole door. Since this is a double door, I need it to match. Any thoughts on who to call for this? Thanks.

I would call the Villages and find out who installed the door. They should have the make and model of the door. The number is 352-753-6222.

I did the same thing.
I went for broke by pulling the insulation off the inside and tapping it out with a small hammer.
Couldn't believe how well it came out.

Maybe try googling for an automotive dent repair guy.

If try to knock dents out you have to use block of wood on side to get dent flattened out while tapping with hammer, dead blow hammer with non metal face probably works best? Most time dent behind bracket. Unless can remove what’s in road probably can get flat?
Another thing does garage door have window panel? If not you can add window panel and use the good panel to replace dented panel.

The Villages probably got your door from RoMac.
RoMac now has a service division.
Since your house is new, they can replace one or two panels.
& if the damage is really minor, they can fix the damage without purchasing a panel.

2 years old, I would think that any garage door installer can match and replace the panel and then paint it to match.

Our garage door is steel and very hard to remove dings, depending on where these are in the panel. If yours is in the central area of a panel I agree that you should be able to tap the ding out. This may take 2 people, one on the outside holding a piece of 2 by 4 (or similar) and one on the inside tapping the ding. If the ding is at the edge, you are probably out of luck.

Not sure how applicable it might be but the do have the Paintless Dent Removal for cars, depending on how bad it is, that might be an option....

Have RoMac replace the panel.
Yes, ROMAC will replace a single panel. White only so you may have to paint the door to match if it isnt white.

You can replace just the panel, if pounding out the dent doesn't work. Call RoMac or ASAP Garage doors. But - the panel will most likely come in white. We opted to have our painter spray paint the entire door, to make the curb appeal look perfect.

Replacing the panel , depending on the size is $600 to$800. Claim it on your car insurance under property damage. You could try tapping it out with a rubber hammer.

You may be able to file a claim against your homeowner's insurance, but not your auto policy. Damage to a house is considered a liability claim, not collision or comprehensive. You cannot file a liability claim against your own property. However, if you were to damage someone else's house, your liability insurance would cover the damage.
