My wife and I had dinner here just last night (2 July). We happened into their early bird special, which includes a beverage, salad, and an entree for $29/person. The pork schnitzel was larger than the plate on which it was served. The onion rings that accompanied my wife’s meatloaf could have easily been mistaken for doughnuts.
I think that this “special” runs through the end of August. It seems like very good value to me. You mileage might vary.

What time did you go? Did you have to wait for a table? Sounds good.

We made a reservation for 4:30. There were dozens of open tables at that time. The hostess seated us immediately.
$29 for Meatloaf? Really?

$29 for Meatloaf? Really?
No. It's $29 to sit in a nicely appointed, air conditioned room at a comfortable table while someone else caters to your every reasonable dining and drinking need in a relaxed, effortless environment for you. During this time someone else completely prepares, cooks, and serves your meatloaf and the accompanying side dishes. All of this was made in a commercial kitchen while someone else did the shopping for the ingredients you are going to consume. All of these people are employed and raising their own families, and paying their own rents, mortgages, car loans, gas, taxes, etc. Dining here also helps to keep the establishment profitable and open so that it is available should you or anyone else wish to visit it or entertain / celebrate their family in the future. Your $29 is going a very long way.
It is not just $29 for meatloaf.

It’s been about two years or so since we dined at Wolfgang Puck’s. The fact we were not impressed the two times we dined there is an understatement . Not a “hater” just expect good food and reasonable service at a reasonable price. There have been other Threads on TOTV regarding this restaurant. Search or go and decide for yourself. There is much more than just a name to a restaurant IMHO.

Sounds like one of those if you have to ask the price you cannot afford it.
To me meat loaf is normally one of the cheapest items on the menu.

I simply wanted to share with other people our experience the other day at this restaurant.
In response, here’s what I’ve noticed…a burger at any golf car accessible restaurant is more than $15. An alcoholic beverage is $7+. A side salad is around six. My back-of-the-napkin arithmetic sums to $28. A burger is just a handheld meatloaf, right?
The meatloaf entree at Evans Prairie CC is priced at $19. Add a side salad for $4. Add a draft beer or a glass of wine and the bill is north of $29. Also, my experience at both Wolfgang Puck and EPCC is that the service was much better at WP.

Thanks for the recommendation. We've been exploring restaurants outside of The Villages and The Old Time Diner sounds like a great place for us to try. :beer3:
The Restaurant Guru also gives it a great review, noting that they serve up delicious comfort food at reasonable prices:

Restaurant Guru and some other online sites, open to anyone that wants to praise or criticize a business, are full of fake reviews generated by the business owner (or competitor across the street) or simply purchased in the website itself.
Want 10 glowing reviews for your restaurant every month, it's just $39.95/month and AI generates the text and makes up a person's name and city.

Google reviews are also notorious for being fake. Some companies tout their business with thousands of 5-star reviews posted on their website.

We love Wolfgang’s. It’s one of our favorite special dinner places. Not expensive for fine dining and very comfortable atmosphere. We enjoy eating there.
On the other hand, a Retro atmosphere with “comfort food”doesn’t sound appealing to me. Comfort food is always code for fattening high caloric food. No thanks.

And after all that writing, it is still $29 for meatloaf. Nothing you wrote changes what he said.
I thought it was obvious he was exclaiming that it was almost $30 for something you can get for around half that price at another restaurant. And in case it is not known, that other restaurant also includes everything in your post as well
I ate there, had their burger. It was a good burger but not as good as one you will get at your average pub for quite a bit less money. They did have a Belgian quad that was very good, something not found in most places.

$29 for any entree in a restaurant is reasonable. Good ground beef is not cheap. Just because it is called “meatloaf” doesn’t mean they used cheap ingredients.
If you want cheap meatloaf, go to the diner and get diner service.

Just like in every other restaurant, but most of them do not charge almost $30 for meatloaf.
They key is if the enjoyment received is worth the price. It is reasonable to be shocked at the prices. One has to remember much of the higher cost is for the famous name, which may oray not increase the enjoyment level.

Which is why there are competitors. Some understand the value, others only understand the price......and there are now plenty of both restauraunts to satisfy both.

That's not all they have on that early bird menu. One of us is going to have the schnitzel, one of us meatloaf, a beer for DH and a wine for me, and salads.
Oh, and the meatloaf is wrapped in bacon, has potato puree and onion rings, normally $24. So, adding a drink and a salad...not a bad deal. Off topic, but they take reservations. TV has become so crowded I refuse to eat anywhere that doesn't take reservations.
