There is a recumbent bike rider riding on the shoulder of the road on Marsh Bend Trail by Oak Hollow, where the speed limit is 55 mph. Is this legal? The part of the road he is riding on has no markings indicating it is a bike lane. I consider it the shoulder of the road. He is not on the multi modal path that runs along Marsh Bend Trail. I fear for his safety, as he is ironically biking to be healthy, and also for the safety of the drivers that might impact him because his bike is low and hard to see. I saw him July 3 and a Villages Security vehicle was in front of me and I wondered why they didn't stop and tell him it wasn't a bike path and to use the multi modal path. Your thoughts?

I personally think they're nuts, but it's not against the law. They're allowed to ride their bikes on county roads with 55mph speed limits, except for expressways. Marsh Bend Trail, where that 55mph sign is, is also a county road, and not an expressway.

How right you are, the difference between what you can do and what you should do, could in this case end in disaster , "He was oh so right as he rolled along , but just as dead as if he was wrong"
