We carted down to Edna's on the green. Beautiful place under the trees. But our friend order a wine. Tiny glass. $9 ridiculous price. Every country only charges about $6. I don't why anyone would go there with reduclous prices. Even beer was $650. Oh well.

People go there because they like the spot and the live music and vibe. All of that comes with a premium on the glass of wine I guess.

Been there a couple of times and had a pleasant experience. But it’s not a regular place for us to go. The prices play part of that sentiment.

Agree. Unless you're getting Happy Hour twofers, those prices are not that different than what you'd pay anywhere.
If you want $1 beer and $3 wine, buy from the liquor store and drink at home.

Not in the parking lot. I don't like beer or wine but do like to have a cocktail or two and that is why God created coolers and airline size bottles. I don't mind paying for it but they don't have it.

Not to mention all the folks that stole their wine glasses. You have to leave your licenses to drink from a “real” glass. Otherwise you get your wine in a plastic cup.
So to the folks that did that, thank you!

WHO SAYS SO?? Water with lemon is a cheapskate lemonade that they sweeten with the sugar or splenda the steal. Charge a buck for lemon on the side! List it with the drinks. 25 cents for a straw. Cheap Bassasstards! (If anything is misspelled, it's the fault of Otto Koreckt) 🧐

That single policy keeps me away. I go back about once a year to see if it has changed... not yet.
I certainly understand keeping the BYOBers out, this is a business not a public picnic area. But I hate drinking warm beer, I hate drinking beer with ice even more, and I'm not interested in balancing one plastic cup on top of ice in another plastic cup. Yeti has a whole line of containers to help keep cold beer cold - Edna's is the only place I am aware of with a policy against them.

Neither one. I keep a few sealed airline size bottles in the spare tire compartment of my SUV, ice and cup in my cooler. When my wife orders a glass of wine from Edna's I go out and stand outside the back of my car, mix a drink and walk around the parking lot or walking trail, toss the cup and empty bottle in the trash and go back to the music. Don't get me wrong, I'm not too cheap to buy drinks but at that particular location there is nothing available and we do pay for my wife's wine there with no complaints. We prefer the squares or Sawgrass.

I agree, drank more than enough beer and wine over the years and just don't like it anymore and only drink vodka now. They are definitely losing business without the license however they are generally packed and maybe don't see the need to have one.

I believe the liquor license for beer & wine only is cheaper and easier to obtain. Serving spirits is another level, which they may not want to bother with.

We enjoy Edna’s and we find it very relaxing and love the music. We often go there with groups of friends. If you are purchasing a drink or two the prices seem fair for the great ambiance. If you are not a social drinker and need to drink more than a few drinks you probably should buy a bottle and a case of beer and keep them in your cart, or your car and certainly have a substantial cache at home. You don’t want to run out!

I feel sad for places like Ednas. If you can't afford to go there, dont. I pray I never get so cheap I have to steal music and facility space from a place like Ednas, then bad mouth them on line. For those that have never been, Ednas is a GEM in the Villages As long as you do not need to steal ketchup packages from McDonals, Edna's is also reasonably priced.

We love Edna's. Live music 7 days a week and twice on Saturday and Sunday. Happy hour from 3 to 5 reduces the pain a little. On top of that they have the best staff ever. There is no place in the Villages that tries harder to please their customers than Edna's. I have never been there without at least one employee calling me by name. They are not afraid to try new things in the kitchen and the food is way above what you might expect. Top quality. It's probably not for everyone but we like spending our time and money there. Well worth it to us.

Why would you assume that I think I'm sneaky. I drink my cocktails that Edna's doesn't offer in the parking lot or walking path out in the open not hiding from anyone or any camera and I really don't care who know's it, my wife on the other hand does not come out from our seating and enjoys her wine while listening. I heavily tip everywhere I go including Edna's. You are not as smart as you think you are Minoletti and are most likely one of those that tips with pocket change.

Love Edna’s - such a beautiful place to chill, whether there is music playing or not. I don’t drink alcohol (I know an anomaly here in The Villages), so liquor prices aren’t an issue for me.
Soft drinks are priced reasonably, and free refills. Food options are good and priced competitively.
Grateful for this venue.

However, unlike many states, if you plan to sell beer, wine, and liquor, you must apply for a quota license. Florida offers only a limited number of active liquor licenses. The number of available licenses is based on the population in a given county.
Quota licenses are awarded through a lottery run once a year. If you plan only to sell beer or wine, there is no limit to the number of licenses.

I can’t say this as fact but maybe it was better wine. You can buy wine for $10/bottle, or you can buy wine for $20 / bottle, or $40/bottle.

Can’t help but notice that the posters who don’t think the prices are bad, are the newbies.
The older posters recall when this was a retirement community & prices were 1/2 that or less and the vendors still made a profit. And no, it wasn’t that long ago…

Many people here are only after "food", not an experience. Just chew and go. One would think that savings would keep them home, but that would involve a bit of effort.

Edna's is one of our favorite places and evolved into a huge success.
Good food, great staff, nice selection of wines in a beautiful setting with scheduled entertainment.
The wine and beer schools are excellent.
Florida law prohibits bringing your own alcoholic beverages into licensed establishments.
People who do so risks the establishment losing their license. Customers should discretly let management know when seeing someone violating the policy so they don't lose their license.

Disagree. The squares are not a private business like Edna's. If Edna's doesn't turn a profit, Edna's closes shop. The squares aren't going anywhere.
If you are going to patronize a public business, you should buy something to keep them providing that "free" music.
If you think the prices are too high, that's fine, stay home and listen to music from your phone on your lanai with your inexpensive (relatively) beverage.

Yes, it did start dropping, but it had remained around 50% higher than the previous 5 years. And that nastiness compounds. So I'm still pretty sure it's inflation rather than newbies who are still working that has forced drink prices higher.
