(Not watching golf). Indeed it was a great throw, but an out only because of poor base running.

Poor base running or poor third base coaching? Shouldn't the coach have signaled a slide?

Both.
But the question wasn’t about the base running. It was about the throw. One of the top 5 that I have ever seen.

One angle shows the third base coach frantically signaling a slide. It seems the runner was paying more attention to the third baseman, who wasn't letting on that a rocket was headed toward his glove.

meaningless throw in a meaningless game with no pressure on the player. Best throw ever the jeter flip nailing giambi foot descending on home plate in a high pressure playoff game. Imho

Without a doubt, the greatest throw in baseball happened on June 5, 1989 at the old Kingdome in Seattle. The Mariners' Scott Bradley lined a double off the wall in the left field corner. On first base was Harold Reynolds, then considered the fastest man in baseball. Reynolds was off with the pitch, and was just getting to third base when the Royals' left fielder, Bo Jackson, launched a throw from the warning track. Bo's throw, a frozen rope that traveled over 310', nailed Reynolds at the plate. Insane.

The third base coach did frantically signal a slide. It was ignored.

Titanic Thompson threw lemon over 5 story building and won 500 buck from Al Capone. If only Al knew how he got scammed? rat-a-tat-tat.
