Played there today. Several large green side traps with 1 rake! Is there a shortage of them?

RAKESHOES! Golf shoes with rakes attached to the back so you can rake out your footprints as you enter and exit the sandtrap. Order yours today.

Actually, don't bother ordering. They don't come in your size.

I played Shallow Creek yesterday, and would have needed a Rotovator to rake the traps the sand was so hard. Do they not run a sandpro through them daily? In responding to this post, my point is that, while there were not many rakes. more rakes would not have helped much.

Played Tequesta Friday and all bunkers that I saw had two rakes and that isn’t enough. I will walk to get a rake but some won’t.

How about when a rake is lying across or close to a line of footprints? Some people won't use a rake that they tripped over. At Boca Polo Club, there are about 100 cameras across the course and a media room where someone monitors the play. If you fail to rake a bunker, sand a divot, fix a pitch mark or fall behind you hear about it and there are CONSEQUENCES. I would suggest $50 fine and a 1-week suspension from golf for the first offense after a warning, $100 and 2 weeks for the second, and $500 and 1 month suspension for each offense after that. The cameras would be impractical with 800+ holes here, but the ambassadors could report the offense to a data base that tracks the player's record and hands out the penalties. Just announcing this policy would probably result in a 95% improvement in players caring for the courses that they complain about conditions on. And while they're at it , replace all rakes with the 24" version---much easier to use

Why would bunker sand trap need more than one rake? Suppose to get rake first before enter bunker. Don’t need bunkers lined with rakes. Not supposed hit in them anyway…..

was waiting for the first person to tell us we shouldn't be hitting our balll into the bunkers like we do it on purpose.......fat too many sand traps on all the courses. Not needed .....cost to maintain them is high and all they do is slow up play....get rid of half of them on all courses.

It's even cheaper and faster if you golf on the concrete on your lanai and really dumb down the game. Save lot's of money too. chilout

Do you play golf??? I'm guessing 80-20 no.

Depends on the size of the bunker----the further a Villager golfer has to walk to retrieve a rake, the less likely he/she is to use it (I'm referring to the 30% that actually consider using the rake in the first place)

I played at Wolf Creek in Nevada, a very high end course ( just to say it's not a dump that doesn't care) and they have no rakes out. They play a local rule that if you land in a footprint, etc, you can lift the ball, smooth the area and place. They say it helps pace of play. I like that idea.

The best Bunker rakes I've ever seen, are only at one golf course that I know of, Abenaqui in NH.

The rakes have another short (12"-15") handle, that's perpendicular to the regular rake handle and about 18"-24" from the end.

It allows you to get better leverage to rake, using 2 hands. It also allows rakes to be left outside the bunkers, yet the mowers can still see them. I'm at a loss, why every golf course doesn't use them.

Further they have to walk? you mean 15 feet for golf cart?

Yes I’ve played for 20 years found it rather boring why I rarely play, but that me, I rarely hit in bunker and when I did didn’t bother me go get rake. Most time I observed most group golfer’s are not ready to play when their turn. IMO this why it gets backed up.

What about a battery operated rake like one of the robot lawnmowers for each bunker?!!! Now we’re talking innovation that would fit right in with the lazy golfers in TV.

It's more than 15 feet a lot of the time, I've sometimes had to walk over 100 feet to get a rake. So, you and I will do that. How many others??? As I already posted, there are many times I find the rake lying over footprints. How????? Footprints that enter one side of the bunker and leave the other side. I guess my point is that unless there are sufficient numbers of rakes, more than one for a large bunker, there will be even more "golfers" that won't rake the bunker. That's in addition to the 50%+ that think the rakes are for decorative purposes only or carry a deadly disease or are booby-trapped with explosives or think it's the ambassador's job.

.

I see this every day and it boggles my mind.

You ALWAYS enter a Bunker on the "low side" and exit the way you entered, with a rake. Not complicated.

I have never in my life, entered a Bunker without a rake in my hand.

i just roll it over in the traps. it should be a local rule to do it.....you could have 10 rakes and these people wouldn't know what to do with them.....
