Less than two weeks to go, peoples. Doors open at 8:00 AM Wednesday, August 6.

I hope they realize that they'll need probably four times as many chickens as any other Costco.

I will probably avoid that area for a week or so. I mean the Hobby Lobby, Walmart, CVS side. Not the Publix, Ace Hardware area.

If I live to be 1000, I'll never figure out why Costco coming to TV is such a big deal ... nor why someone would have a calendar entry that says "get to Costco at 7 a.m., to buy a $5 chicken".

There will be more time and fuel money wasted with people lined up at Costco, than saved by shopping there.

I have shopped Costco in South Florida for years. My wife and I bought most of our casual clothes there. Now everyone in The Villages will be wearing the same thing.

i agree, that's all I hear is $5 chicken, like no one knows what other stores sell it for.... which is the same ballpark to not make any difference. I've heard it for 4 years, and then they stick the place is the worst location possible. if it's only there because people think it's the chicken then it's a waste of my time and effot. Unfortunately BJs screwed the pooch and gave us the worst BJs in Florida not to mention the worst manager also. I'll stick with the other places but not Publix I've managed to source everything without needing big box BS.

GOOD to KNOW …
that it will also be an uncrowded
pleasure to go Shopping at BJ’s
and Sam’s Club beginning Aug 6th

as I have never been a Big Fan of
Black Friday like Crowds fighting
over parking spots just so they can
go in to behave like rude scavengers
as though nobody else needs matter 😢

There have been a number of threads on TOV where people have explained why they shop at Costco over just about any other store in its category. It's not just the pricing. In fact, some of the stuff is more expensive. It's the quality of the products they carry, like the Kirkland generic line. They also treat their employees pretty well (comparatively) and their return policy is second to none.

Double post but there's no way I can see to delete a post...

Only the gas station is open. I checked the price difference in gas to the nearest gas station. It was $.18 a gallon cheaper if gas is a big deal to you.

I am new to Costco so just learning the terms. I do worry about fraud though with so many scammers out there.

Mine was through something that came in the US Mail that looks legitimate and I think I got an e-mail from Costco soon after that said I would get a Membership card within two weeks or so.

Fueled up this morning at Costco. My question are Executive Members allowed to enter early prior to Star members on August 6? NO
Employees said that was question from many Executive members, stopping by.

So for Executive Members early shopping doesn’t start until August 7. No perks for long standing members with Executive Membership on opening day.

Leaving for Disney the 5th will stop at Costco in Clearmont. By the time we need anything we will take advantage of early entry at TV Costco, in a few weeks.

Facebook already has people posting they plan on being in Costco line at 4am. That concept I have never understood.

Costco is very good about moving people through lines. As long as I've shopped there, check out has never really been much of an issue. When it's really busy, they have staff with handheld scanners checking people out who are standing in line.

The customer service desk (for returns) can sometimes be a wait though.

Funny part is the many who are questioning the need or want for Costco, won’t have to worry about finding a parking space.
Parking will be at a premium for many years to come. Nearby Restaurants will be extremely happy with increasing foot traffic, for all those who want a bite to eat.

Won’t hurt Walmart because it’s a different clientele.
Fresh Market may loose some loyal customers due to chicken and beef prices will be less at Costco.

Not so sure that nearby restaurants will be happy about Costco. People will park in their lots. Still question the location but Costco knows its business better than we do.

For those who are new to Costco, you might want to check out the Deal Guy. He has some of the deals for the month, and also does Sam's and Dollar Tree. Another Costco update site is Bobby Parrish's who covers health food there.

I'm pretty sure Sam's will be feeling the Costco presence probably more than any other business.

We had a Sam's membership when Costco was as far away as Altamonte Springs but didn't renew it when Clermont Costco opened. Sam's was convenient--couldn't say much more than that. But some of their products, such as produce, were a roll of the dice. It wasn't uncommon to buy (say) a 2 lb. container of fresh strawberries and upon opening them at home finding several near the bottom already beginning to spoil. Never had that happen at Costco. Sam's "chicken line" reminds one of vultures on a fence. Sam's store brand (Member's Mark) seems inferior to Costco's Kirkland brand. On the positive side, Sam's does have some great bacon at a pretty good price.

Additionally, Sam's cardholders often share their cards with other people who then shop there. We know several who do that...one card might be used by two, three or even more people who aren't cardholders themselves. And Sam's doesn't seem to care. One woman I know actually asked if it was OK if she used a loaner card at checkout. It was fine with them. I don't know if Costco allows that or not, but if they do, Sam's will lose a whole lot of that "loaner" business.

We'll begin to know in eight days.

Costco now has card scanners at the entrance, staffed by an employee. If you don't match the picture attached to the card, you're not getting in.

Well this is pretty annoying. Got 2 flyers in mail advertising their $40/$20 digital shop card when purchasing an Executive or Gold star membership. Go online to purchase membership. When prompted type in promo code- it’s not accepted. Call up customer service. Told I have to go to the warehouse to use that promo code. Funny that is not what the flyer says! It says “ Valid only at : The Villages Costco and Costco.com”
