Answered your own ?. Why not have a golf equipment holiday? That brings in more money to the state than taxes on guns and other gun paraphernalia

No different than all tax exemptions, pandering also. Should be flat tax on everything and everyone. No need for exemptions and tax cheat lawyers who written tax laws so rich get out of paying their fare share. :oops: That ought get juices flowing. :wave:

Yes, it is needed. No, it isn't political pandering.

Did they give a Hurricane free tax week for supplies? Or a Back to school tax free week? Did I miss it?

My goal is to pay the least amount of taxes within the law. If people don’t like that, then change the laws.
The rich pay the majority of all taxes, so enough of this. A flat tax would be good if it’s applied to everyone, no exceptions. But it won’t, they’ll say these people don’t want to work so they don’t need to pay, but these folks make more than X so they need to pay more. If you implement a flat tax every person pays the same. If you have a hard time affording things get another job, go back to school, whatever it takes, but enough pandering to the people that don’t want to work.
Most people with money worked hard for it, sacrificed time/marriages/family time while perfecting their careers/businesses and these people deserve as much as they can get, money wise, stock option wise, etc.

Nor do I. Thanks to the OP for the reminder though, time to load up on ammo!

If we just had a flat tax on purchases with NO income tax then all would pay as they consume. That is the only fair way to apply tax. It also would shift some burden to visitors who purchase goods here in the US.

Political posturing. Get rid of all the sales tax holidays and just lower the overall sales tax

My hubby just brought up a good point! Florida's No#1 revenue comes from tourism! Maybe this tax-free time will stimulate the industry?

Political grandstanding is as old as moses. We expect it, we enjoy it whether were booing or cheering it. It's the human condition is it not?

Also in this new budget

A permanent Back-to-School sales tax holiday every August, which includes clothing under $100, school supplies under $50, learning aids under $30, and personal computers under $1,500;
