Mailbox woes

This morning I emptied my mailbox and the only thing of merit was a key to one of the large storage lockers.

Unfortunately, the number on the key (written on it in ink many moons ago; no numbered tag) was totally illegible, so I had to try it in all 23 locked boxes.

None of them opened so I passed the key to Mrs Fox, who was a bit more patient and found lucky box number 16 to contain my goodies.

On my next visit there I shall be asking those inside to re-ink the keys if needed.

Under the heading of "mailbox woes", how are they assigned at those mailbox stations? Some people literally cannot reach the boxes in the top row, and some have a VERY hard time getting low enough to access their box if it is on the first or second row from the bottom. I've helped people in that situation a lot of times.

Can a person request a change of box?
