My lawn service company has disappeared

Been 2 weeks since they cut my grass, and I'm due for a shrub and bush trimming. Not returning my calls. Not going to mention the company, but if you know of a dependable service that works in Buttonwood, please mention them.

Very common is TV especially in the summer, and ones that want prepayment. After our 9th lawn guys in 8 years disappeared, we bought an ego and mowed our own lawn. That lawn took us over 2 hours to mow. Pretty lawn just too much to deal with. We sold and bought same size lot, built larger house and added a pool. Lawn now takes 30 minutes.

Never heard of any of my neighbors losing providers...............I don't think it's common at all.

Many of my neighbors have lost or changed providers for a variety of reasons, one is poor service & being overcharged.

So with that it is Very Common as in " Very ". :shrug:

We’re going on 2 years with the new service (a couple in their 50’s) and are very happy with them and hoping they keep the business running for many more years. The couple that does our lawn now parks in front of a retention pond and proceeds to service several homes up and down our street.

Yup, we’re still using the pool service company you recommended several years ago when T&D sold out to the disaster that is Patriot Pool and Spa.

They were such a disaster that T&D started their pool cleaning back up. Not sure how Patriot is still in business.

Hard to find a mowing service north of CR 466. For weeks I would go out every day in my Village and hunt for crews mowing lawns. Ask for their business card or read the name on the truck. Usually the answer is "We're not taking on any new customers because in rainy weeks we can't get to every one we have now." Most businesses want to stick to one or two Village neighborhoods, so they can do 3 or 4 homes on the same street and unload ONCE. Driving 3 miles to the next customer is not profitable.

[we live in Richmond and if I found a very reliable lawn service called good neighbor lawn service he is a guy that works by himself and can either do a push mower or the larger mower always edges and trims well trims bushes as well and pulls our weeds we have gone through so many different people over the years in The Villages. It’s a breath of fresh air to get a young guy that comes every week and does a great job. Yes he’s a little bit more but he’s extremely dependable and always there to help us. His name is AJ. My community is not in the villages, but I’d estimate that 25-30%of our residents are former villagers. Most of them have said keeping landscapers was a pain. They’d get a company that was good for the first few months, then service would crater. Some had better luck, but most said shopping for landscapers was a yearly event. YMMV

I hear ya, I recommended our former irrigation guy several times on TOTV and now he’s so busy he’s booking over 6 months out and never answers his phone or returns calls. Making recommendations can come back and bite you. The Villagers is getting to dam big.

Our service provider sucks. I've tried everything. Hefty tips, gift certificates, and adult liquid gifts. All I had to do was call their office and say it's over. Since that day, they no longer send people with poor eyesight to cut and trim our lawn. Problem solved. I'm a happy customer again.

No one seems to have mentioned a company or person specifically who they are happy with? I can understand being reluctant to mention the name of someone who is terrible (maybe it also against the rules of the forum?), but why be reluctant to give a good recommendation? Can someone recommend a company that is honest, reliable and reasonable (may be too much to hope for?) or where I can get that specific recommendation? I am new to this forum and may just not know how to get to the right spot? May thanks.

Nobody wants their quality service provider to get too busy. Bad things can happen, like they stop returning calls, have long waits for appointments, take longer between service calls, rush jobs, and jack up prices. It’s happened to us with our irrigation guy, HVAC company, weed pulling woman, garage door guy, golf cart repair guy (especially during busy season), and pool service company. Quality service providers can’t keep up with the rapid growth of the Villages.
