Sadly Jay lost his voice (laryngitis?) and the rest of the band was average. The crowd’s enthusiasm was high in light of the marginal sound quality. No dancing, just a geriatric standing room only mosh pit in front of the stage. Perhaps the next performance will be better.

Yup, we stopped by for a few. The security guard did say it was the largest crowd he had seen. I was not aware Jay had “laryngitis”. I was suprised people stuck around as we got there late and heard about one song and left. Yikes, retire gracefully your 70!
The largest crowd I ever witnessed at LSL was back in the fall of 2019 when Gary Sinise and the Lt. Dan band played a free concert to raise money for veterans. Gary was the guy who played Lieutenant Dan in the Forest Gump movie. It was a very impressive show.

Jay Osmond, Never heard of him as a solo singer, yes he " Was " part of the " Osmonds " when they were a group. that's it.
What is the " Big Deal " of this guy other than once being in a Group upteen years ago.
Peter Nero, a Very Successful Grammy Winner American Pianist & Pops Conductor lived here in The Villages, kept a Low Profile for obvious reasons.
Along comes this guy Jay Osmond & it's a Big Deal .... Huh ?????

Went late for last set, left after 3 songs, they were not very good.

Was there for the first set. I was looking forward to this but it was unwatchable. Jay lost his voice before the show even started but there were other singers and they did a few "classics" to fill in, but the band was terrible, the sound was terrible . . . left before first set was finished when he announced a 20 minute break.
I soon realized that I didn't know most of the Osmond songs but the lady next to me appreciated it and enjoyed it.
And what's up with the sound system? It was really bad in front but actually sounded better behind the stage as I was walking away.
Don't bother going to a future show unless you are a diehard Osmond fan.

As bad as Jay Osmond was the female singer was even worse. If the villages wanted to use Osmond to draw crowds they really dropped the ball by not making sure he had a tight band with him to carry the load. Bring him out once a month with a tight band and let him do his schtick.

Zoo scene is an understatement. People just stood (without even attempting to shake) on the dance floor since there was no place to sit, and even some chairs were in the parking spaces around the square. From the few songs we listened to, they have a long way to go. Especiallly when he brought up Skooter to sing-who said 'I'm a DJ not a singer". We haven't completely crossed them off the list and might give them another try, thinking perhaps they just had a real bad start, but I wouldn't stop if there were no parking space around the Sq.

The new groups Barfly and Pavani's Band are both much better than that Osmond mess.

I watched on utube. Girls singer had worse voice than Osmond but I guess he wasn’t 100 per cent. Back up band was below average. Play at Spanish on Saturday night.

We figured he had a cold, or at least hoped he did. He wasn’t very good. We’ll give him another shot.

We were there at 6:20pm. Crowd was average - easily could access the dancing area. I've seen many bigger crowds for the better bands here at TV. Sadly, we left after 3 songs as the band was mediocre and the lead singer lady was off-key and sounded like a karaoke show.

Since Mr. Osmond is now a Villager, I'm sure he feels welcome by the "friendliest hometown" after reading all your mean comments.

Mr. Osmond by " Choice " #1 Moved to The Villages . #2 Mr. Osmond by " Choice " decided to perform & he was by all accounts 100% a total disastor.
Keep in mind it was his brother Donny who was the #1 Star his family were merely backup singers.
That is the long & short of it. Mr. Osmond was never a " Star " perhaps in his dreams ....maybe. I wish the guy well & my advice ( Free ) take up the fastest growing sport in the USA " Pickleball " or better still get a Recreation News & search out the many, many clubs and.........:spoken:

They're doing what Villager's do best, beeotch and moan, never thinking they could just move on and do something else if it didn't catch their interest. Making other's seem smaller make them feel so much bigger, sadly.

Would've been nice to have a surprise cameo from Donny & Marie ... instead he brought Scooter the DJ for 20-minutes. YIKES.

No kidding, not sure if you all heard, but me and 5 other members of my band were unknowingly performing with covid. All feeling terrible and just kept pushing through. I want to thank all of those people who made it fun, kept the energy going and have offered prayers for healing. A few members of the band (including me and my wife) are so sick we're down for the count in bed. Sad that some feel they need to lash out and hurt others. I just don't get that.

Saw a notice today that Jay Osmond canceled his appearance at OBO due to illness. Maybe he really does have a laringiits problem. Let’s give him the “benefit of the doubt”.

Feel better, all of you, and know that old people aren't always happy people and like to bring others down to their level. Covid is tough, focus on recovery and ignore the posts that are uninformed.:BigApplause:

Right? A free concert performed in a beautiful setting by a newly-formed band and these people on TOTV have to carry-on in the worst way. It says much more about them than it does about your or your band.
I was there for a short while, heard a few songs, saw people having fun. That's the Villages life. Don't know who all these crabs are on this thread but, probably getting an actual life would help them. :cus:

Bottom line is very simple: It was Mr. Osmond choice to perform.
Now the way I see it is very simple.... if a person consider himself or herself a decent performer to do whatever in front of an audience then that person(s) can expect a reaction Good or Bad.
That said their are plenty of opportunities in The Villages for wantabee singers to audition for various groups here are two ... " Villages Voices " & " Villages Pops Chorus ". Contacts are in the Weekly Recreation News available at every Rec Center.
There is also an informal " Doo Wop " Group that meets frequently ... ask around for that information. Bottom Line ... Plenty of singing opportunities for thos who think they have a Voice. :spoken:

I wasn't there, but it looks like you performed in the best tradition of "the show must go on". Ignore the mean and snarky comments, it's par for the course on TOTV. And very few on this thread are professional musicians and no one is a music critic for the New York Times, so grain of salt and all that. No one lasts 50 years in the music business without talent. Wishing you and your band a speedy recovery, COVID sucks. Good luck with future performances after you recover and welcome to The Villages.

Yeah, nice try but we're not buying it. Snarky and mean even though the word was out that evening that he wasn't feeling up to par.

I would always give a band a second chance. Sometimes even the sound system can be an issue. I heard Johnny Wild a couple weeks ago and the guitars sounded very tinnyif that’s a word.

I just watched a YouTube video of part of their performance. No doubt, Jay had laryngitis. Poor guy. I read some of the comments on the video, including a long comment from the Osmond Connection themselves. Here is the video...........

I hope once his voice is 100% and his band rehearses more and become tighter, Jay Osmond will be a regular big draw here in The Villages. Jay may not have been the big star of his family but every one of them had beautiful voices at one time.
