I am looking for someone wheather it be car dealer shop or whatever to deliver a battery to my neighbors house who is in assisted living. Triple a was there Saturday and confirmed dead battery. It’s a 2022 Subaru crosstek limited.

AAA should be able to bring a battery & install.

I thought AAA sold batteries on the spot. But you can order a battery from a local Autozone store and they will deliver it and install it. I think other auto parts stores will do the same.

I asked triple a guy and he said they don’t do it. Seemed to me he was like a independant contractor and did this on a part time job. Thanks for the auto zone tip.

Interesting. The store I talked to in Lady Lake told me that they do.

If you can get the car started and drive to an auto parts store, most of them will install it.

I have had AAA deliver and replace batteries, but not here. Maybe it is a local thing. But it is certainly surprising. The last time I got a jump from AAA, the guy had batteries in his truck to sell me without even a request. But that was in TN.

Why is the battery in a 2022 Subaru no good? Its only 3 years old. I could see it being dead, perhaps from sitting a long time. But you should be able to jump it or put a trickle charger on it, at least enough to get the car running. Something is odd.

I did that at a dealership once and had to park it in their check-in service area.
When they tried to drive it in the service bay, it wouldn't start,
They had to jump start it and charged me a $50.00 for jump starting it.

Nice!

If you can get the battery out, you will get the $40 core charge when you go to the store, it appears any of the other suggested options you lose the core charge. If you can borrow a charger, I would attempt to charge the battery, and get the car started, go to the Autoparts store and have them install a new battery. Normally I would offer to help, but I am currently way too busy to take on any more tasks.

Had triple A install a battery in my driveway a few days ago. You will pay a premium if not a member. Find the AAA website Florida location

I don’t see many wanting the liability for this car.

I wouldn’t listen to the clueless on this one. It isn’t as simple as just taking the hold down off and swapping terminals. Make sure you use a start pack and a jumper or you will wipe the memory which opens up a whole other can of worms.

This is the reason i suggested getting the car started and going to the Autoparts store, they typically have a device to plug into the OBD port that will keep the car memory intact.

The Subaru isn’t unique either. Changing a car battery is often not what it used to be. A neighbor has a late model Ford and we worked on changing the battery together. Autozone wouldn’t do it for obvious reasons. When we popped the hood it took us a while to even find the battery. We had to remove the wiper arms, engine cowling and loosen some bolts to get to it. It took about an hour and a half and a pile of tools to get it all done.

There probably more issues out there than what most people think.

Just curious. Does AAA use this device? Also, if the battery is dead, isn't the memory already wiped clean? And, wouldn't the important data stored in a vehicle be non-volatile memory or permanent memory? Even cheap devices, like TV remote controls use non-volatile memory.

I have asked a mechanic to disconnect the battery and reconnect it just to restore the screen electronic functions when they inadvertently failed.

Over the last 10 years AAA has delivered and installed two car batteries for me (last one two years ago) and just last winter one for our granddaughter.

What so hard about removing battery and going to where ever buying another one and installing it? maybe 150 bucks DIY vs 3 or 4 hundred bucks or more paying someone? Plenty of utube videos also.

From AI
Subaru Batteries Subaru of Rochester in Rochester MN ...
To replace the battery in a 2022 Subaru Crosstrek, first locate the battery in the engine compartment, then use a 10mm wrench to disconnect the negative (black) terminal, followed by the positive (red) terminal, and then remove the battery hold-down bracket. Install the new battery by reversing the steps, ensuring the positive terminal is connected first, and secure the hold-down bracket.

Typically, maintenance free-lead acid batteries will last 3-4 years in Florida. The heat seems to be an issue. AGM batteries will typically last longer. I have had an AGM battery located in the trunk last 10 years.

1- What village is he in? I'm sure if he was close to somebody, they or I could easily do it.

2- I would guess that most companies would not install a battery without the owner onsite.

My AGM batteries have only lasted about 3 years, and my vehicle is always parked in a garage. So far, I have used 3 AGM batteries in 8 years. They cost about $300 each.

I just reset my radio, the engine computer reset new memories. I usually put 12V on system though while battery disconnected. With newer vehicles it may throw code that’s where needs programmer reset/codes cleared? You escape had battery buried under the firewall not out in open like most SUVs/vehicles which are easier.

When I have replaced my battery, the only reset I did was the clock. The radio station presets, GPS locations, etc. did not need to be reset. No issue with the check engine light.

We had one die in our Honda and just called Sumter Tire, they brought a new battery, installed it, took the old one for a credit and everything was just fine after they left, didn't have to re-set anything. Give them a call.

Thats not really true. When you disconnect the battery you not interfere with the computer. The only "memory" you will lose is the computers memory of the driving style of the cars owner. That memory is automatically refreshed when the owner starts driving the car again. It's the same memory that is established when you first buy the car.

Subaru extended the warranty on their batteries because many of them were faulty. Call a local dealership and see if this battery is still covered, and if so, they'll replace it free. You'll probably have to charge the current one and get it to the dealership.

Yes, they did one for me.... it was even cheaper than going somewhere PLUS didn't have to get the car towed..... AAA is the way to go!!!

Well the original post by the OP is no longer discussed. By the time this is closed, it will go to discussion about car manufacturers, then to gas vs electric, then to saving the planet, then to are nebulas remnants of supernovas.

So Rocketman....did you find someone who delivers and installs the battery ?

Just an FYI, the Florida AAA does not actually DO anything, compared to other locations. No foreign currency, no maps, (understandable they're mostly not printed now) and when I called them for a breakdown on I-95 they said they don't do that either. I bet that the guy they sent is just about the most response you would ever get from them. So I'm thinking I won't renew, there are better alternatives. And my bank will provide foreign currency so who needs AAA?

Called dealer where car was bought and said they would come to house, jump it, take to dealership, install batter, check all the electronics, bring back to house. Not my money but sounds like about $500.00 .will call triple an and just have them put new battery put in. Called three different auto stores but they only deliver to commercial places.

Triple A came today to fix dead battery. Soon as he saw it was a Subaru said he probably couldn’t fix it. They have a different kind of battery that Triple A doesn’t stock. So I will go with the Subaru coming next week. First he suggested once he got it started drive it to auto zone, they stock that battery. But sitting for 2 months what if it dies on the way there.
