We are hosting our cousin's family for three days. They are considering moving to The Villages from Naples FL area. Which three championship golf courses would folks recommend playing. We are in the village of Well Point but are not opposed to any courses based solely on location.

Thanks for any response.

Definitely agree with Palmer (Laurel to Riley) and Tierra. Other options mentioned above are good, but I would add Belle Glade (Calusa to Tequesta) and Evans Prairie (Egret to Killdeer). I guess it’s a matter of personal preference. I wish it would be possible to play The Palms (Hacienda Hills) to Hibiscus (Cane Garden), that would be a very nice 18 holes.

Glenview is #1 Almost all of the others are in reasonably good shape. Orange Blossom even looks better these days. Hope your friends are straight hitters. Rough is brutal

Be sure to get them guest passes. Also WellPoint to Lopez 30 minutes in a car, probably an hour in golf cart. All the championship courses rent golf carts.

These are great recommendations. Realize you stated distances isn't a burden, but if you want something closer Southern Oaks is always a good option. Greens are usually in great shape. It's definitely more forgiving than Tierra.

Agree, Glenview is excellent. All three.

If they are thinking about relocating in the southern part of TV, near Orlando, Shallow Creek is brand new so the course conditions should be nice, plus there is alot of new buildings in Eastport to see as the southern center of activity.

If I had company coming I would start with Belle Glade for this reason: it is just about the only championship course built so the club house has a view of the course. It's in good shape, it's really pretty, and you can go to the restaurant sit outside for a drink or something to eat, AND watch the course. The view is just great.

I agree with that. I would also agree that Palmer is a good option. Southern Oaks is nice and you can have a post round drink at Sawgrass. I wouldn't take someone to "wow" to Shallow Creek. It is not as scenic as many of the other options, IMO.

Based on your location.
I. Belle Glade, Calusa to Tequesta
2. Bonifay, Pensacola to Destin
3. Mallory Hill, Caroline to Virginia

Good option just a little further
Palmer Legends, Laurel Manor to Riley Grove

Glenview, Hacienda Hills and Tierra Del Sol are all very good choices, but are a longer cart ride from your location.
You can also always drive your car and rent a cart at any Championship course, but part of the fun is taking your own cart.

Evans Prairie has wonder zen views.
Bonifay great fun course
Belle Glade Callusa borders along a nature preserve that offers interest wildlife views

And if they're staying too long and you want them to leave, take them for a quick nine on Caroline. lol

What's wrong with Caroline?

What's wrong with Caroline?

Nothing, but it’s the longest 9 in the Villages from the Whites, so short hitters are not a fan. The par 5 fifth hole is one of the best holes in the Villages. I believe the front 9 at Tierra, Fox Run at Glenview, and Ft. Walton at Bonifay are the next three longest 9’s.

I didn't look it up, but I thought TDS was longer.

The 5th hole on Caroline, is one of the poorest designed holes in TV, in my opinion. It's likely to go away, when the renovation is done. Look for that hole to be redesigned into a Par 4 and the Tees on #6 moved back, to make that a Par 5.
