During the past week TV announced the annual resident web survey (available 3/073/27/11). To show your support for a performing arts center, PALMS issued the following email:
Support a World-Class Performing Arts Center in The Villages Resident Survey
If you're a Villages resident who'd like to see a world-class performing arts center here, you can support the cause by indicating that in the write-in portion of the annual Villages Resident Survey. Villages residents received instructions on how to take the online survey from March 7 to March 27.
Performing Arts of Lake, Marion and Sumter (PALMS) is eager to work with all interested parties, including the Villages' developer, to secure a site that will be convenient to residents of the three counties. Besides bringing top national entertainers to our community, the center would be a jewel that raises the stature and visibility of the local arts community. It would also spur economic development and be a drawing card for persons or businesses seeking to locate here.
Several previous surveys have shown widespread public backing for the idea and a willingness to support it financially. While PALMS has narrowed the search for a site and is preparing a fundraising structure, you can help to build momentum for the project.
In the upcoming survey, you could write in such comments as "A performing arts center would bring world-class entertainers to the area" or "A performing arts center would add to quality of life." (If the first few words are "A performing arts center" it makes it easier to tabulate.)
