A lot is said by many of us and often is a reflection of current events or what we just heard or read in the news. Sometimes we are merely parrots for the social or political rhetoric fed to us by which ever group we favor.
On the subject of oil dependence how much do you really know? What is your understanding of what IS GOING TO HAPPEN in the event of a major disruption of oil supply?
Do you know where our daily oil comes from? How about who is the biggest user of oil world wide? By how much? Of what we import what is the single largest use of oil?
America's Strategic Petroleum Reserve (SRP); currently being considered by the Washington Wizards to be tapped to head off the rising prices of oil. Surely they cannot be serious. The capacity of the SRP is 727,000,000 barrels. Depending on the source one uses we use 30,000,000 barrels per day. That is a 27 day supply assuming no oil coming in which will not ever be the case. But it does some what put it in perspective. It also answers the question that it is not a solution to the problem
Here are 4 links that if you take the time to read them you will have a better understanding of our oil driven vulnerability. And why it is a matter of ultimate survival and yet we are doing little or nothing to protect ourselves.
