Your administrators have hired a nationally acclaimed IT technician to work on the performance of Talk of The Villages. He began his work Monday night and it should continue for the next few days.

I have personally noticed a dramatic increase in the speed with which the pages load. It should get even better when he is finished. There could be, from time to time, a few down moments while he works his magic. In any event, we hope that the recent outages are a thing of the past.

The complication that forced this upgrade is a good one. As many as 25 new members every day on TOTV and over 400 computers logged on at any given time.

Thanks for the efforts!!

Maybe you could send him over to The Villages Tee time system after he is done as they seem to be down and out :Screen_of_Death:

Overall I have found the forum to run great. Don't mind a glitch now and then because they do happen. Thanks for all the behind the scenes work and effort put in to make this all work!!!!!

TH.... Just an FYI. I have been getting periodic Database Errors this morning, while trying to access TOTV. A refresh normally gets me in, but thought you might want to know. First time I've every had this error with TOTV.

Not sure if anyone else is experiencing this issue....

I am seeing quite a few of these, which I assume you know and it is expected, but I hate to assume.

Mike and aj - Same thing here. I'm also getting dropped - having to log in again frequently.

Admins - Certainly not complaining by any stretch! Just passing along info as FYI.

Thanks again for your efforts -
Bill :)

Yes, the pages are loading much faster-- virtually instantly! Thanks, and congratulations on the reason for the need. :ho:

I got this when clicking on the "Barking Dog" Thread. Never seen this before. I was not doing any of the things in the message. I only forward if it can be related to work being done, e.g., load balancing enhancements...

ajbrown, you do not have permission to access this page. This could be due to one of several reasons:

Your user account may not have sufficient privileges to access this page. Are you trying to edit someone else's post, access administrative features or some other privileged system?
If you are trying to post, the administrator may have disabled your account, or it may be awaiting activation.

I got the same thing as aj did on that same thread. Message popped up when I sent a post yet upon checking, the post went through.

Early Sunday morning I got a message that Internet Explorer couldn't connect to TOTV. I guess this must have had something to do with it.

Some may be experiencing this issue for the simple fact that MySQL the database program is getting restarted, which is part of the process for correcting/upgrading issue w/ the server, these you can ignore, just simply log back in.

If you have in the past experienced issues in normal navigation of the site, specifically when going between the following:
https://www.talkofthevillages.com
or
https://www.talkofthevillages.com

Note the www missing off these two URL's, this was due to an incorrect settings made in the past, which is no big deal, but presents a "cookie" issue w/ a visitors web browser, i've made the necessary change & forced a session reset today to allow users to get an updated cookie in their web browsers. This change has been tested & verified as working correctly when navigating the site.

If you continue to have login/out issues, please delete all cookies from your web browser related to totv, then close your web browser, restart the web browser, then log back in to totv, remember to tic the "remember me" box also before logging in.
