We are in Silver City, New Mexico. This is where the fire you may have heard about yesterday on the national news is burning. It is about 1.5 miles from us right now and so far the wind is blowing in the opposite direction, but we still may have to evacuate. Our friends already lost their house...nothing left. So far, no casulities, but 3 firefighters have been injured and one horse has died.
Any spare prayers would be greatly appreciated.
Hubs has a very dark sense of humor and said "oh well, that would solve our packing problem."

May the winds stay in your favor, or better yet fade away and you continue to face your packing problem!

OMG, ladydoc....my thoughts and prayers are with you. Western fires are fickled things, they can change direction in a heartbeat and move very quickly. We're from southern CA and know how dangerous wildfires are. I assume you are ready to evacuate, and when told to do so, you will leave with great speed. I'm sorry your friends have suffered such a loss. Prayers for those brave firefighters are sent along, also.

I will keep good thoughts for you and your husband. Coming from Southern California and having gone through my share of wild fires, I understand how scary it is. The smell, the ash falling everwhere - it's a terrible thing to go through. All our best from The Villages!!

Coming from southern CA, I too have been in many close calls with fires. They are so unpredictable and frightening, I can appreciate your trepidations about what would be coming next. I hope all is well by the time you get home and that the fires are contained.
Good luck, my friend, and I'll see your crazy hubs soon, I hope. Tell him to let me know when he's enroute back here. Regards, Kath
