I was wondering if there is any kind of tool loan program among TV. I need to do some work on my transmission and would like to borrow a transmission jack instead of having to pay for one. I would gladly pay a rental fee.

Does anyone know where tools such as this type auto jack and other specialty tools can be loaned or rented?

jsc - I'm not at all familiar with rental places around TV. But I do know that, at least up north, Advance Auto Parts has a "tool rental" programs of sorts - - - it's actually FREE! How it works: Go to the store, if the tool you're needing is in their rental program, you pay for it in full. Take it home, use it, then return it within the prescribed timeframe (ask them - I think it's something like a month) and they give you ALL your money back! Great deal. Probably best to call one of their stores first to save the drive.....and also to check with them to see what all types of automotive-related tools they rent. I've rented special water pump/fan clutch tools and bearing/race drivers, for example, from them before. I don't know if they get into trans jacks or not. If they don't, they would be a good source for knowing if there are such places in the area - and/or call other auto parts stores (NAPA, etc.) to ask them for their insight on rental places.

Hope that helps -
Bill :)
