speaking today said that the shot heard round the world was fired at Lexington and Concord in New Hampshire. As you may recall she recently opined that the founding fathers ended slavery. This woman makes Palin and Christine-I'm not a witch"-O'Donnell look like geniuses, and that isn't easy to do.

I do think the difference is that Obama made an honest mistake whereas Bachman proves her lack of basic knowledge almost everytime she opens her mouth. Her lack of knowledge for someone who may have Presidential ambitions is scary.

How lame. It's always just an honest mistake when a Democrat says something dumb. Hypocrisy on display.

We have great GOP folks that because they don't make ridiculous statements like Palin and Bachman, they don't get on the news. I'm sure Democrats are hoping for a GOP candidate with lots of sound bites that will play against them. Its time to start talking about those that can win.
Can you please provide one example of a ridiculous statement that Palin has said? And "I can see Russia from my house" doesn't count; that was actually said by Tina Fey in a SNL Palin parody.

...the woman is looney tunes. What's disturbing is that she has one of 435 votes in the House that governs this country. By the way, there are more like her, both in the GOP as well as on the Democrat side of the aisle. Maxine Waters and Barney Frank come to mind, but I'm sure given a few minutes I could think of others. What's even more scary is that just by getting re-elected a few times, folks like this actually are elevated to positions of leadership in our Congress, based mostly on seniority.
Congresswoman Bachmann is an excellent example of how someone like her can have extraordinary influence on our lives. She's lived her life as a conservative religious activist. Politically, she had only five years experience as a Minnesota State Senator before being elected to the U.S. House in 2006. She had actually been elevated to a leadership position in the Minnesota Senate for a few months before the Republican leader fired her for "philosophical differences". Now, in her third term in the U.S. House, she's navigated herself to be the head of a major caucus of Representatives. Is she the type of person you want having a significant influence over the governance of our country? Just listen to her statements. Try to figure out her thought process.
What's scary is that people like this can actually have a significant impact on how our lives are lived. I guess the best we can hope is that there are an equal number of goofballs in both parties to offset one another so the rest of the House can do the people's business. But it does make you wonder how in the world tens of thousands of people elected folks like this, doesn't it?

You know what? I don't care if Bachman got a couple of facts about history wrong. A lot of people including the current President and even myself do so also. What's important is that she's expanded the dialogue in the political area; contributing to a movement which is demanding governmental accountability for the economic mess it's put us in and is in the forefront of the attempt to take governmental control away from the socialist leaning leftists who disrespect the idea of American excellence. You won't hear Michelle Bachman apologizing for America's greatness.

How many Palin quotes do you want, I have more!
1. "As Putin rears his head and comes into the air space of the United States of America, where– where do they go? It's Alaska. It's just right over the border." --Sarah Palin, explaining why Alaska's proximity to Russia gives her foreign policy experience, interview with CBS's Katie Couric, Sept. 24, 2008 (Watch video clip)
2. "The America I know and love is not one in which my parents or my baby with Down Syndrome will have to stand in front of Obama's 'death panel' so his bureaucrats can decide, based on a subjective judgment of their 'level of productivity in society,' whether they are worthy of health care. Such a system is downright evil." –-Sarah Palin, in a message posted on Facebook about Obama's health care plan, Aug. 7, 2009
3. "All of 'em, any of 'em that have been in front of me over all these years." --Sarah Palin, unable to name a single newspaper or magazine she reads, interview with Katie Couric, CBS News, Oct. 1, 2008 (Watch video clip)
4. "Well, let's see. There's ― of course in the great history of America there have been rulings that there's never going to be absolute consensus by every American, and there are those issues, again, like Roe v. Wade, where I believe are best held on a state level and addressed there. So, you know, going through the history of America, there would be others but ―" --Sarah Palin, unable to name a Supreme Court decision she disagreed with other than Roe vs. Wade, interview with Katie Couric, CBS News, Oct. 1, 2008 (Watch video clip)
5. "'Refudiate,' 'misunderestimate,' 'wee-wee'd up.' English is a living language. Shakespeare liked to coin new words too. Got to celebrate it!'" --a Tweet sent by Sarah Palin in response to being ridiculed for inventing the word "refudiate," proudly mistaking her illiteracy for literary genius, July 18, 2010
6. "But obviously, we've got to stand with our North Korean allies." --Sarah Palin, after being asked how she would handle the current hostilities between the two Koreas, interview on Glenn Beck's radio show, Nov. 24, 2010
7. "Especially within hours of a tragedy unfolding, journalists and pundits should not manufacture a blood libel that serves only to incite the very hatred and violence they purport to condemn. That is reprehensible." --Sarah Palin, defending her fiery campaign rhetoric in the wake of the Arizona shooting massacre by invoking a phrase ("blood libel") that typically refers historically to the alleged murder of Christian babies by Jews, Jan. 12, 2011
8. "We believe that the best of America is not all in Washington, D.C. ... We believe that the best of America is in these small towns that we get to visit, and in these wonderful little pockets of what I call the real America, being here with all of you hard working very patriotic, um, very, um, pro-America areas of this great nation." --Sarah Palin, speaking at a fundraiser in Greensboro, N.C., Oct. 16, 2008
9. "We used to hustle over the border for health care we received in Canada. And I think now, isn't that ironic?" --Sarah Palin, admitting that her family used to get treatment in Canada's single-payer health care system, despite having demonized such government-run programs as socialized medicine that will lead to death-panel-like rationing, March 6, 2010
10. "Ohh, good, thank you, yes." --Sarah Palin, after a notorious Canadian prank caller complimented her on the documentary about her life, Hustler's "Nailin Paylin," Nov. 1, 2008 (Read more about the prank call, watch the video and see the transcript)
Can you please provide one example of a ridiculous statement that Palin has said? And "I can see Russia from my house" doesn't count; that was actually said by Tina Fey in a SNL Palin parody.

Funny story but true. I was txting my wife the other day about a potato. My Blackberry corrected my spelling to "potatoe."
Dan Quayle, it wasn't your fault. It was on the card that way.
Sheila Jackson-Lee, it was your fault. We did not put a flag on Mars.
But my all time favorite........Guam tipping over.

Oh yeah, Michelle Bachmann adds to the discussion on economics by making comments like this:
"If we took away the minimum wage - if conceivably it was gone - we could potentitally virtually wipe out unemployment completely because we would be able to offer jobs at whatever level."
But my personal favorite:
"Not all cultures are equal."
This woman makes Palin look like a rocket scientist, and that ain't easy.

Liberals just love to hate Republican women. I could undoubtably find dozens of stupid comments by liberals, besides the few already posted in this thread; but the fact is I don't care to. I'm not unnerved by the left in the same way the left is terrified of the rise and influence of the conservative woman.
It will be very interesting to see if the liberals strategy of political ridicule, the only tactic left to them as they cannot afford to run on the issues, will have their desired effect.
I say "fine"; Liberals run on ridicule, Conservatives will run on issues and we'll see which strategy resonates with the American public.

Good for you Richielion I happen to agree. I moved down from MN and if you want to meet some loonies talk to some of those DFL'ers that is the Democrat/ Farmers Federation which was combined under Hubert H. In fact take a look at Al Franken who by the way literally stole the election. there still finding votes stuffed in strange places all through MN or for that matter Jesse Ventura.
I personally like Bachman. Her family has some prominence in MN and have been good corporate and personal citizens. I like that she has called out Obama and in all those isues was right including the $100 million plus hidden in the ObamaCare bill.
I don't care if Bachman or Palin say they can see Russia from here. Because I do appreciate that they have the sense to know that Russia is still the enemy and as such would not sign a disarmament agreement that greatly favors Russia. You all probably read Victor Hanson's account of Obama's foreign policy blunders and he was being kind. The only mystery for me is if Obama's actions are intentional or unintentional (i.e. simply way over his head) I like these fighting felines they may get some of those complacent timid lacking intestinal fortitude male counter parts to stand up on their hind legs and do what is best for this country :BigApplause:

and of course he things our military are corpsemen, not corpsmen.. but we are to assume he knows that too.
Want some more Obama mistake?? try youtube.
The Truth is everyone makes mistakes and it is only the political weak that have to resort to calling republicans stupid or unqualified when they make one, and then they become hypocrites when their candidates make similar mistakes.

Thanks Rubicon for the support. The left is so shaken by the rise of the conservative conscience of the American people, and that their redistributionist and economy killing agenda is being dismantled piece by piece, that they've been forced to get violent in their speech and their ridicule as evidenced by the massive organized protests around the country.
Michelle Bachman experienced an episode in New Hampshire when an organization of liberal activists attempted to take over her speaking event. People there to hear her protected her and ushered the activists out of the room. This doesn't happen when Liberals speak. Why? Maybe because, unlike liberals, we're not afraid of your words getting out. We relish it.

I'm a woman, and the only thing I dislike (hate is such a strong word, don't you think?), is stupid women! I take great pride in my gender and am dissappointed beyond belief when people like Bachmann and Palin achieve "stardom" by saying dumb things repeatedly. Not just once in a while, but over and over and over again.
So terrified of these two "strong conservative women"? I think "embarrassed" is more the word.

I am actually stunned by the fact that woman of the liberal pursuasion are so critical of Bachman and Palin. Both stand for what feminist fought for these many years and yet liberal females such as Joy Behar and Kathy Griffin show such hatred toward them. Unbelieveable! Talk about shooting yorself in the foot. Good Lord!:22yikes:

Guess who.
"Every week we don't pass a Stimulus package, 500 million Americans lose their jobs.''

At the time, she was 3rd in line.

It always amazes me how narrow minded SOME of these liberals are...they actually think that they and their ideas are alone....nobody who disagrees has a brain....the epitome of ELITIST.
There surely are the same type of folks on the right, but the left is amazing in their quick criticism of anyone on the right and their silence on those who are on the left ON THE SAME ISSUES.

consistently, male and female, let's start by applying the standards Palin et al are being measured by against all the long term incumbents. If the same magnifying glass was used they would all be on the proverbial :censored: list.

Everyone who wants to can listen to Ms. Bachman herself, when on Meet The Press with David Gregory, she doesn't take back her gangster quote but doubles down. She also doesn't let Gregory bait her into defending herself and the Tea Party, but gets her own points out, including her revelation of $105 Billion Dollars of appropriations for Obamacare.

The Gangster Government issue, if that's all you want to hear, comes about 9:05 minutes.

Anyway, I do have issue with the spin on their own facts presented. To classify the string of appropriations that coincide with what Bachman is saying a lie because they don't all get drawn at the same time as a lie, is a stretch, to put it kindly.

I kinda think that no one will have their mind changed by this kind of debate.
I am reading
IS! IS NOT! IS! IS NOT! IS! IS NOT!
AND "Your mother wears combat boots" and stuff like that.
I don't know this person, but it sounds as if she made a huge mistake in a public speech.
We are electing a lot of uninformed folks these days, I think I am gonna be looking for a successful business person with a heart and good common sense next time to sit in the presidents chair. Turning a phrase is not enough.
If only I could find one that was just perfect.
Why do we know personally better people than the ones we end up voting for?

Heck, the libertarians wanted ME to run in some local elections here in NH but because I received stolen merchandise (I didn't know it was stolen & I returned it), I can't run. It doesn't matter that the record has been discharged. It's all anyone would hear on the news. Doesn't matter that I've since gotten a full security clearance, from the government.. ...twice.
The process seems to ensure that nobody qualified would be able to survive the process.

Graciegirl I don't know how to carry your last post to my post but you made a lot of sense. Why aren't we getting the best of a good lot for political candidates. Where have all the truly good people gone? Why have true patroits been replaced by opportunist? Who has failed us, or have we failed ourselves? Is our political system that contaminated that all we can retain are the marginal ones at best? Will the Tea party movement benefit our political system by creating the needed impetus to reclaim our desire for freedom and individual expression which was once our greatest legacy? Must we continue to tolerate pols whom appear to exhibit a "I got mine the hell with you attitude?" Where are the great statesman and orators? Why can't we find a candidate who will inspire us by action and deed? I don't have to agree with all of their policies but I do require honesty, integrity, intestinal fortitude, a love for country and a moral imperative that will stand above all nations. God hear my prayer.

And there you go folks....some people and some things are beyond reason or understanding !
THEY, and ONLY they are correct ! The politics of character assassination rather than what they stand for...the politics of party and not country.
We have a current President who has misspoken many times...who was associated with people that are totally on the fringe...but he is ok....because he is in the right party and agrees with you.
He is a nice man, of good character and as much as I oppose almost every policy he stands for.....would never call him a "loser".

The wisest position for the voter is not to drink the kool aid from any one pitcher. Demand specifics from the candidate of your choice because they will not let the facts get in the way of the message they want you to hear. I am tired of the rhetoric and empty promises fro pols. As an example they keep talking about the insolvency of social security yet both parties raided trillions from this fund.....we could go on and on:mad:
