mold in grout

Finally, Finally found something that works on mold in shower grout.....Mold Armour, $2.99 at Publix......I tried everything, pure bleach to $10.00 a bottle Mold and Tile cleaner....Wanted to pass on to anyone else with this problem...Now debating if a sealer is necessary????

I does work. I've used it for a while. Make sure to use adequate ventilation, it's pretty powerful stuff.

and shower floor looks like new.....Soooooo glad I discovered this....While in publix, someone else was debating, we exchanged our unsuccessful attempts and concluded that Mold Armour was the ONE!....You won't be disappointed!

jebartle/pooh.... you are good sales reps. Went to the Publix in Colony and there is a big gap next to Publix brand "Mildew Remover". Guess that's where the "Mold Armour" was.... none left in stock. Mr 07 also checked the Publix in So Trace and could not find it.

Any other store locations you know carry it???

I got the last bottle of Mold Armour on the shelf at the Mulberry Publix today.

Sprayed it on 1/2 of the shower floor so I could see the fantastic difference. So..so disappointed. I'm not sure it did anything (and yes, I did follow the directions).

It was worth a try, however, and I thank the poster who suggested it. Glad it worked for them.

That is surprising....Hmmm! Could you have a sealer on grout?...I'm not kidding, left on shower floor and it turned pure white in minutes....So sorry it didn't work for you.....

I am still going to give it a try. My grout is not sealed as I took a dremel tool and removed most of it. Then re-grouted it myself. Good to be retired and do projects that keep you busy.

Actually, I have a feeling I know what it is but I'am just wondring in what formulation it is being used.

My guess is you can buy a whole GALLON of the stuff at a pool supply store for pennies, compared to what this spray bottle cost.

IF....your installer used acrylic based grout...instead of the cheaper sand based....you can simply use white vinegar and bicarbonate of soda and a brush....Worked fine in several homes, for the last twenty years. It will foam, but I do not believe it is toxic. HOWEVER.......WARNING>>>>>>>WARNING>>>>>>>WARNING>>>>>>NEVER....AND I MEAN<<<<<<NEVER MIX VINEGAR WITH chlorine (chlorox) BLEACH ..

We spray ours with plain apple cider vinegar, let it sit for about 1 hour and rinse it off.

once your grout is clean, silox 8 is the best sealer money can buy, it is not voc compliant so make certain you are well ventilated

Mold grows in and in so if it's too old you may have to have a pro do the removal.
I have found TILEX or bleach usually works. Let is sit and do not breath in the fumes.
Rinse later.

We've been using the Dow Scrubbing Bubbles products for years, and their Automatic Shower Sprayer unit is absolutely fantastic for keeping the shower and tile and grout spotless. You just push the button after showering, it beeps and gives you 15 seconds or so to get out and close the door/curtain and it sprays the liquid 360 degress. That is it.

I use Chlorox whenever possible, but this is far better for keeping the shower clean.....far less toxic and you don't have to handle anything or be near it breathing fumes when it sprays. You can leave the room before it sprays.

Our shower is 4 years old and the grout is sparkling white like brand new.

Be careful with this product. Friends with a home in Hadley had this in their guest shower/tub and it dripped onto the faucet. The finish on the faucet is ruined.

Just an fyi, when we moved in our new home tour guide mentioned that we should always leave the exhaust fan on for a while after showering so as to pull out the extra moisture. We do that and we also squeegee the walls and floors after each shower. No mold. Takes a little time but it works.

Mold Armour has TWO products.... the bottles look the same. One is a mold remover, one is a mold preventative. You probably got the preventative by mistake.... the remover is more expensive ($7.99-11.99)
