I have a question about eye clinics in T.V. Last year I went to Ocala Eye and while they seemed very thorough, I wasn't impressed in how each visit took up half a day (literally). I never had that "up north", so I'm thinking they triple book and are way too busy!!
Now, next time we can make a new selection of our Part D in Medicare I'm thinking about Preferred Care Physicians. They seem to have really great coverages BUT you have to choose doctors "in network". Can anyone give some thoughts about Lange Eye Clinic?? I went online and tried to get a feel for it but really couldn't. They have an impressive website BUT want to know about their care etc.

I just used Lake Eye Assoc. last week and absolutely loved them! I called in the morning because I thought I might have Iritis (something I have had in the past). They got me right in that afternoon. Everyone from staff to Dr.'s were wonderful. I would highly recommend:BigApplause:

When I went to "Peepers" for a medical problem with my eyes, they referred me to "EYES at The Villages" because they have a very good opthamologist there (Dr. Zeini). They have two locations: one in La Plaza Grande, and another in Spanish Trace. I was very pleased with their service, promptness for appointments (no waiting), and front desk staff, too.
Although Peepers has only optometrists, I will be using them for my eyeglass prescription.

I really want to KNOW about Lange...not Lake or Peepers or any others as PCP is the carrier that this clinic is preferred for. I appreciate the info on the others and might consider them but I'm thinking about taking PCP as my Part D next year.

I was not pleased with LANG, but your mileage may vary ... I came in with a condition diagnosed up north and saw one doctor who ran a bunch of tests (same ones I had already done), referred me to a second doctor who ran a bunch of tests with negative results, who referred me back to the first doctor who referred me to another of their doctors who was in only once a month ... I gave up

O.k. one comment so far on Lange Eye. I'd love to hear MORE testimonies from folks here. One negative wouldn't necessarily cause me to pause (but it might say "maybe" a red flag here).
I'm trying to weigh my options! I'd stay with Ocala Eye...and even more so if they pick up Preferred Care Professionals or whatever it's called. I know more providers are, here in T.V., because they're losing patients.

I also was not pleased with Lange Eye. I have prisms in my prescriptions and had tried several Drs. here. I have a very difficult and "busy" preseciption. Someone suggested Lange Eye. I ask for an appt with their best Dr. for prisms. After 3 incorrect prescriptions, I finally got my money back and went to Ocala Eye. The Dr. there fitted me really well. However, that Dr. at Ocala Eye has since left the practice and I will be out of luck again for the next time.

I have been pleased with the care I received at Ocala Eye. I always ask for a morning appt., and rarely wait longer than 5 or 10 minutes. I believe they have different doctors who specialize in different things, so if you have a particular problem, you will be assigned to the doctor that is most qualified to handle that. I see Dr. Jodie Armstrong for dry eyes, and think she's great.

I think for now.I'll stick with Ocala Eye. Was satisfied with the care...just didn't know if I should leave because of wanting to change the insurance. I'll ask them if they're going to pick up Preferred Care Partners!

He is as good or better than most I have ever been to during my life and I was born with glasses on!!!
He spotted things in my eyes that were missed by previous doctors. And their specialists referrals are outstanding as well.

or an optometrist. He does monitor us for glaucoma as well as cataract identification and monitoring. For cataract surgery he does refer to a cataract specialist.
Now I will have to call in the morning to see which he is.

From the Lange Eye Care website:
http://www.langeeyecare.com/langeanda.htm
Dr. Glenn Pieschke
An optometric physician, Dr. Pieschke spent 17 years practicing at the largest tri-ophthalmic practice in the country - Eye Centers of Florida, located in South Florida. He's now proud to be part of the team at Lange Eye Care, where he specializes in contact lenses, ocular diseases, sports vision and surgical co-management.
"I enjoy interacting with patients on a daily basis." he said. "Helping them achieve better vision is why I enjoy my career. The first thing you do when you wake up is open your eyes and before you go to bed you close them. Everything in between is vision."
Dr. Pieschke has served in the Air Force Reserves for 16 years and is now a major. He is currently chief of eye services at Patrick Air Force Base. This military background is beneficial because many of his patients are veterans who reside in the Villages. " We form a natural bond," he said.

I happened to be familiar with Lange's website since I'm scheduled for cataract removal and a lens implant next Tuesday in Ocala through them.

My wife rates him a 10!
She was having some discomfort and he was at a birthday party (he gave her his cell phone and said don't hesitate to call)...he broke away for the few minutes it took....it was Sunday.
Good luck with your surgery.

I need a doctor who specializes in Glaucoma. Is there a specialist in the Villages. Also are there any groups for people with Glaucoma?

Update to my original question. Have checked with Ocala Eye and was told they aren't considering signing with Preferred Care Physicians. I have checked and think that Lange might be an option for me anyway. I am probably leaving my supplemental insurance at the end of this year and signing up with PCP as they offer so much more in coverages that are appealing to me!
I am being monitored for glaucoma and have the start of a catarac. Many people in our population (age-group) have issues with vision so I'm thinking that Lange has to have people who care for these issues!!!

Does Ocala Eye have any of the advantage insurance companies on their list or do they only work with original Medicare and Supplement?
