We are moving and building this summer. We would like to enclose our lanai. Any recommendations? Also approximate costs?
Also any recommendations for carpenter to make a bar?

T&D are great and do most of the work for the builders here. They gave us a fair price and once the permits were approved they descended like locust and finished the job in avfew days and did not ask for a dime until the building inspector gave the OK. Even came back to fix some minor things.

We just today got an estimate from Fairbanks Construction of Ocala (they had a booth in Sam's and also do work for Lowe's) for tempered glass @ $65/SF with one man door and electrical work based on 260 SF. Lifetime warranty to buyer and transferable if home sold for 20 years to new owner.

We have a small lanai (Holly with 4' expansion) and the quotes for sliding windows ranged from $4,000 (Precision) to $11,500 (T & D).

If you are building why don't you have the lanai built as a FLA room and attach either a birdcage or lanai.....gn

gn - please enlighten me; what's the difference between a Florida Room and a lanai?
(when my grandparents bought in Bradenton in 1960 the house had a screened in attached room called a Florida Room)

We JUST enclosed our lanai & love it. We have ordered Coolaroos to add privacy & cut down the heat in the summer. Or lanai is 29' x 12'. We inclosed it with acrylic . We have created a new living area. We have the door-walls that stacks back. We open the door-walls and leave them open all day. Now! no more little critters can come in
The cost was $5,000.
With so many expenses we still justified this decision and are happy.
